Spoilers Krypton season 1

I was surprised by how sad I felt about Dev-Em's death. He was a likeable character, sympathetically played.

Meanwhile, Blake Ritson is giving a really interesting performance as the Voice/Brainiac. I'm glad the mask is gone, since his facial expressions are an engaging part of his performance.

Hm. If Adam actually had gone back to future Earth and sent back "someone with a nickname" to help, I wonder who it would've been. Superman himself is probably off the table, since he'd have no powers on Krypton. Green Lantern, maybe? He mentioned power rings.

Ooh, just imagine if the only one he'd been able to convince was Booster Gold...

I wonder what Adam is planning since whining for Seg to trust him didn't work. If he actually plans on killing General Zod, then he's setting himself to go up against Lyta, Seg, and Jayna. I don't think he's a match for anyone of them individually, and definitely not all of them.

At this point, I think it's safe to say that Adam doesn't always think his plans through.

It is interesting to be tempted to root for General Zod and to see the guy trying to save Superman as the bad guy.

One thing I don't like about this show is how setbound it seems. Characters are always scurrying around the same cramped corridors, alleys, and catacombs. I wish there were a way to open it up and vary it more visually.
I agree 100% and Kandor feels very small because of it. Why would Brainiac even be interested in the tiny little place we keep seeing?

It's gonna be a whole lot tinier once he's done with it...

But seriously, presumably what he wants is a manageable sample of the whole. Since Kandor is one of only a handful of domed cities on the planet, that makes it a pretty hefty percentage of the whole population, more than enough to work as a preserved sample of the civilization.

Krypton's ratings have been abysmal the past three weeks, so I doubt it'll be renewed. It hasn't even been in the top 50 for Wednesday night the past two weeks.

nice but...

...this misses the point. It's Krypton's depiction of Kandor that is at issue; it is simple not coming across as a city at all to me with small crowds and endless tunnels.

There's only so much they can do on a TV budget -- they couldn't exactly do location shooting on the streets of Belfast and pretend it was an alien world. Given that, I'm pretty impressed with what they've managed to achieve with CGI establishing shots and intriguingly "alien" set designs.

Besides, what matters most are the stories and characters, not the scenery. For thousands of years, every drama that people ever saw enacted took place on a small stage with either limited, impressionistic scenery or no scenery at all. Yet they were still able to enjoy the stories, because they had working imaginations that could fill in the gaps.

This show has been in ratings free fall until the last episode, where it stabilized in the 600k range. This puts it into the same level as the expanse but without a sugar daddy (Netflix) to keep it alive. Has syfy announced renewal yet? If not, this show is in danger of a one and done.

No mention of the legend of Nightwing and Flamebird yet. That’s surely a given in a show like this.
So if that soldier Lyta liked isn’t the father, I wonder who is. I doubt it’s Seg-El as that would make it rather awkward. He would be Superman’s uncle.

A lot of references thrown in this one with “power rings” and Justice League. No Batman yet.

Pretty good episode but it’s rather annoying that we are 8 episodes in and we’ve still haven’t had a proper reveal of Brainiac. All we’ve had so far was the few seconds of him at the beginning.
I wonder who that lady is at the end? My guesses are either Allanah or Hawkgirl.

Hey, we get a glimpse of Rann, and "meet" Sardath and Alanna, though only in voice. Kind of an odd portrayal, just a white corridor seemingly in space. I guess they didn't have the budget for more. Anyway, this Adam is still quite a screwup -- it seems he's already ruined his relationship with Alanna, and his attempt to be a "hero" for Superman entails betraying his friends to Daron. Still, he risked his life for Seg and Kem, and I suspect there's a redemption arc coming. I'm guessing the weirdness at the end is the changed timeline as a result of his actions, so he needs to go back and fix things. Maybe restoring the original timeline involves Adam doing something to save Krypton from an even worse fate in the past.

Nice to see Dev isn't dead after all, just, err, disarmed. I guess he can join the bionic-arm club now along with Bucky Barnes, Misty Knight, and Yo-Yo Rodriguez.

Since Dru-Zod was never related to Superman this must mean we are seeing a alternate version of Zod. His actions here change who his father, meaning that there is a small chance this is still part of the DCCU.
Can’t believe there is only one episode left and we’ve still haven’t seen much of the proper Brainiac. The Sentry is fine but he just reminds me too much of a Borg.
I also thought that Seg sent Doomsday into space as a way to get him away from Zod, which in turn leads to it coming to Earth and killing Superman.

We got mixed messages here about Seg's future. On the one hand, Dru-Zod is Seg and Lyta's son, so they're supposed to get together. But now a rift has formed between Seg and Lyta and he seems to be falling for Nyssa. Maybe it should be General Zod that's fading out of existence instead of Superman's cape.

I'm not sure I like that revelation, though, because it means that Zod and Jor-El are half-brothers and Superman is Zod's nephew. That's a little on the nose for me. In fact, everything in this story seems to be revolving around the same three families and the same few people. For instance, Jax-Ur turns out to have been Val-El's colleague. It's all a bit too insular.

Telly’s Take
Will Syfy cancel or renew Krypton for season two? My gut tells me that, unless the numbers really tank, it will score a renewal. With such a high-profile property, I wouldn’t be surprised if Syfy made a deal for two seasons from the start. I’ll keep an eye on the Nielsens and update this page with breaking developments.

So Seg El's Last Trist (maybe that was the inception) with Lyta before she betrayed him and Joined Dru-zod was kinda foretelling as after we get the reveal of Dru's bloodline relation to Seg-El. I can see that Adam missing after the explosion could get twisted somehow via his device, where he pops out somewhere and the explosion is still just behind him, as he falls and the explosion takes out some Brainiac drones or something.. That would be cool. Of course I wanna See Adam come back in that red and white space suit with Blaster and anti-grav jet pack.

If they change the timeline and save Kandor, I can see the timeline still being the same, as it was in the movie that Krypton started the space expansion, colonies, and also mined their planets core, which is where the eventual destruction of Krypton occurred, and Jor-El much like Val-El was overridden by the council and was forced to send Kal to earth. Dru-Zod talks about his imprisonment, and I wonder if that happens again, giving rise to a training partner for the younger Zod when he gets sent to the phantom zone..?? interesting how time travel works.

It's the Guilds as to why we only see the focus on certain families.. The elite are the ones who are in charge, and that is a reflection of history to some extent.. much of the events center around those few elitist in power and not so much on the everyday ordinary Kandorians. So I'm not bothered by all the connections. It fits the established setting.

I was wondering about this, hasn't it been established that these Kryptonians can't reproduce through intercourse , that's why they are so dependent on the Genysis Chamber ? Maybe I misunderstood that part. Also, if the genysis chamber is vital , does every city have its own ?

I like that they have dropped hints and tidbits about other Kandorian City's , it would be awesome to see them in future seasons. Someone at work said this show didn't have great ratings, I hope they do at least one more season or else it feels like we will not be getting a very good close to the story.

Boy do I love Nyssa-Vex, right from the start she's been a favorite of mine, last night it occurred to me she is quite possibly Jor-El's mom ; that made me smile . Quick question, when Seg and her went to the genysis chamber, did they actually start a baby growing ? I thought at the time they were just looking a possibilities , now I'm wondering.
