Kate Mulgrew would be interested in a comeback

If he were to return, wouldn't it be better on Discovery?

Reanimating Kirk would only serve to reinforce the fantasy that "No one really dies."

Yes but you also want to get Shatner involved as well. While I would love to see him trying to play a young Kirk in his 20's I am not so sure the audience would buy into it It would be super meta though..:)

I wouldn't mind but she has to wait her turn. Sisko gets to go first. His show was created before her show. Speaking of taking turns shouldn't Shatner get a turn as well and before Sisko or Janeway? Not only does he have senority but you would like to see it happen because at his age you don't know how many more years you have to give him that chance. Time for Kirk to come back to life via the Borg like in his books.

Jason

Avery Brooks doesn't want anything to do with Star Trek anymore. That means it would be Kate Mulgrew's turn.

Did he say that or is it he didn't want to interview for the Documentary? Plus even if it's true people do change their minds. Remember what Daniel Craig said about doing another James Bond movie? Heck I am even pretty sure Patrick Stewart, never planned to go back and do Picard. Of course it always helps to toss tons of money at people as well.:)

Brooks has said he doesn't have any more to say about Star Trek. Also, and this is just my opinion based on his actions, he seems to enjoy the private life and he hasn't shown any desire to come back to the role.

Shatner has had chances but always demands more money than production can afford......

voyager is pretty popular on netflix. I could see a partial reunion, maybe a small mini series but not right now, with everything else in development

I am sure that some TNG, DS9 or VOY characters will appear in the Picard show. And they will probably be some in every category, from regular, recurring, or cameo to just name dropped. Janeway would be fine.

Which characters would be the most appropriate to bring back somewhat depends on what Jean Luc has been up to lately. Still in Starfleet? Ambassador? Retired and going on digs with Vash? Embittered and living in an abandoned ancient temple and muttering about how "the Federation must end!" We'll see.

The one thing I doubt he Picard Show will be is a convoluted exercise in drawing together a bunch of characters from across the franchise. Early 2000's perhaps, but that ship has sailed.

I think it will focus on him and probably mostly new characters. But I expect at least some cameos and name drops. How many would be regular or recurring we dont know. They should have as many as makes sense. I'm not for any character appearing just to say "Hey, it's Garak!" He shouldnt be there unless it makes sense for him to be.

Though a wedding or funeral would give an opportunity to have the whole gang and have it make sense for them to be there.

That would not be possible, Sisko is dead, or now some higher power within the Bajoran heavens. I would guess Janeway would still be around either an Admiral or became Captain once again to helm Voyager to journey to new missions.

I'd really love her to return insome capacitiy!
Kate Mulgrew is simply awesome. And I want her to bring a little bit of her OITNB-persona to the role.:D

But it should be IMO pretty limited. EIther a guest appereance for a single episode, or her taking a role like Adm. Cornwell on DIS - the superiour behind the desk with a personality.

Well SIsko did say he would return. Seeing him return to be reunited with his family and also because he is needed for some important thing, would be fun. Maybe Picard has a orb experience because he meets up with Ro Lauren who has become a vedek in her later years and he ends up talking to Picard and helping him in a spirtual way. Or maybe Ro is a character who has the orb experience and she is part of the new Picard show.

This and the sooner the better.

In reference to an up thread response (not yours XCV330 I think - I'm just too lazy to directly quote it) I disagree that a return of Mulgrew should be a minor one. The actress is great and some of us like the character (Janeway) too :bolian: It seems a touch 'unfair' that our female Captain/Admiral is denied another moment in the sun like Kirk and Picard have had repeatedly. I'm not trying to look for sexism and fully respect people may not like Janeway and most certainly won't project sexism on them. You don't like Janeway for being Janeway, that works. However her popularity is proven and by current viewing statistics. If the actress wants to be considered then it is an opportunity.

In away Janeway has already made her comeback. There is no real reason for her to be in the last TNG movie. So you could almost see that as a special acknowledgment of "Voyager." A honor that neither Sisko or Archer has gotten though Archer has been given a name drop a few times. Granted "Discovery" and the Kelvin Universe using Section 31 can also be seen as shout out to DS9.

IIRC, Avery Brooks has pretty much retired from acting. He's now a professor in the theater department at Rutgers.

And Picard could be running for the Presidency.

Unlikely. I don't see Picard as a politician. Or even an admiral. Like Kirk, Picard is at his best when he's in command of a starship.

Yep, Sisko is Space-Christ and may return for a Bajoran last supper, but I doubt those ideas were well thought out, and wanted his death to be opened for some optimism. He's dead, and is not coming back... well... maybe in those non-canon novels which never presented Star Trek characters in a good light. I doubt Ro would be a Vedek, there's too many restrictions and disciplines and also I believe Ro is dead after joining with the Maquis. Janeway is more plausible avenue for a comeback because her character was still deep into Starfleet when we last saw her, and I wouldn't be surprised to see Janeway take back her command.
