Karl Urban -- blond or brunet?

therefore, here we all are! Yes, Sinise would also have made a good McCoy - he does the great straight man to Spock and Kirk's antics - he has that same smoldery intensity as Karl - Karl will be great as a tortured priest. Don't tell Mr. Oldstredshrtevr but I wouldn't mind torturing Karl a little myself . . .

Matt Damon's Kirk.

Adrien Brody's Spock.

Gary Sinise's Bones.

The TREK that never was.

I kinda wonder if Adrien Brody would have worked as Spock. I think Brody's nose and cheekbones were more like Nimoy's. His face is more angular and Vulcan-like. But Quinto probably embodied Spock's younger personality attributes better than Brody would have.

^ I once would have said no, because I've never cared for Adrien Brody, but Zachary Quinto's taught me to never say never. I had only ever seen ZQ as Sylar, and I absolutely loathe that character--I don't even watch Heroes any more, mostly because of Sylar (okay, well, for other reasons, too, but I was ready for him to be killed off that first season). So I was afraid I wouldn't be able to enjoy the movie because of him.

Well, never once did I think of ZQ as Sylar during the movie--only as Spock. So it's very possible I could have handled Adrien Brody in the part. Like cooleddie said, he definitely had some of the same facial features.

Although, to my great surprise, I can't imagine anyone else but Zachary Quinto as young Spock now. Who'd a-thunk it? :vulcan:

And to bring it back on topic, the same goes for Karl Urban. He's perfect in the part in my eyes, and as much as I like Gary Sinise, I'm happy with the McCoy we got--and I hope he'll stay our McCoy for many movies to come!

^ Agreed. I was a little worried when I heard about most of the cast. But Karl and Zachary were really the only ones I felt very confident about. (Actually the casting of Karl was completely out of left field for me but I knew immediately he was perfect.)

Karl would probably win most fans' pick for best recreation of a TOS character in the new film. As believable as John Cho was as Sulu and Quinto was as younger Spock, Urban WAS DeForest Kelley in some scenes.

Just because there's never a bad time to share new photos I run across with you lovely ladies and gentlemen (and you may remember that I'm all about the suit photos):
