Justice League official "Zack Snyder" cut on HBO Max

I think the question of which version will be considered canon in the DCEU is a simple one. They both are.

The Whedon version is the pre Crisis on Infinite Earths canon. The Snyder version is what happened after the timelines of the Multiverse rearranged themselves after TV Barry and movie Barry met during the Crisis. Or the other way around, whichever way you prefer. Simple.

In other words... "Dammit, Barry's!" ;)

If the Snyder cut is received well enough, I can see them considering that version the "canon" one. Nobody went to see the theatrical version anyway.

Ray Porter went on Twitter the other day to confirm that he played Darkseid in the movie.
Which, presumably, means that he will be appearing in the opening sequence fighting against the Amazons, Atlanteans, Olympians and humans instead of Steppenwolf.
So, are they going to have to find a way to re-animate him, or are they going to put a new 'skin' on Steppenwolf.

Since they're reportedly not doing reshoots but will be recording new lines, are they going to dub those over the existing footage? Could we now end up with everyone having creepy CG mouths to make the lines fit?

No, they're talking about regular ADR (dubbing over raw production audio to fine-tune an actor's performance and/or eliminate 'on the set' noises). Standard in any movie like this; every bridge scene in TMP, for instance, was completely redone in ADR because of the noises from the film projectors running behind the monitor screens. Snyder was pulled off the film, and most of it junked, before they got to that point in post-production.

Well, apparently this thing is going to cost way more than 20-30 million dollars US to complete (which has been speculated by many on the internet) and Warners are prepared to 'pony-up' the dough. Though my interpretation from Greenblatt's '“I’ll just say I wish it was just $30 million and stop there.' tells me they're not overjoyed at that. The article also talks about the legal obstacles to getting it completed and why it wasn't announced until last week.

"Because it isn’t as easy as going into a vault and there’s a Snyder Cut that’s sitting there to put out. It does not exist."

Wait... everybody kept denying this though? Weird.

A rough cut with unfinished effects and editing and a cut that’s complete and just awaiting release are two separate things. No one involved in the production claimed the latter was true. But let’s not let facts get in the way of a good put down.

Yeah, this really is just semantics. All Greenblatt meant was that they still have to do the SFX and other things to make it a watchable movie.

Meanwhile, Zack Snyder took to Twitter for a change.

Defensive much? Who mentioned the people involved in the film? I'm talking about people on forums, even this one.

People were insisting last year when Snyder released the pictures of the film reel that it's all but ready, basically done, and we're fools not to believe them.

The professionals haven't been misleading, they're awesome. Some overly eager fans were.

I remember someone here ferociously arguing that the theatrical cut was absolutely Snyder's work, that he personally approved every decision Whedon made, and, when challenged with, oh, everything, pointed to Directors Guild rules, as if there was no way paper guidelines could ever be selectively enforced in the real world, let alone Hollywood. :rommie:

They just need some characters in full masks so that they can reuse the same 3 minutes of footage a dozen times, like in an episode of josie and the pussie cars.

I think the truth is probably somewhere in between.

I still don't think there was ever really a Synder cut. I think the company line has always been mostly accurate. It's just that Snyder pulled a Roddenberry and started believing in his own cult of personality, so now they're (WB) going to pull one out of their collective asses.

Thankfully, CW-DC has no bearing on or connection to the DCEU. Stunt casting on TV was just that--stunt casting, and there was no official announcement at the time of the stunt casting.
