I think it's more a case of JL fans being organized and this was more of an operation rather than just fans voting. This was a call to action. Reminds me of the brown coats.

It was the best super hero movie I watched 2021, with Shang-Chi and No Way Home being in the top three.

Using a twitter poll at the OSCARS was clearly a really silly thing to do as the result was always going to come down to which fanbase spammed up the vote the most.

Apparently Tik Tok is even worse. I've seen a couple people who I, or my mom, follow on Instagram, who gave up Tik Tok because the people on there were so horrible to them.
