Justice League official "Zack Snyder" cut on HBO Max

After quite some reflection and rewatching parts of the last two hours, I think there was probably a pretty decent movie to be assembled from a lot of what Snyder did. But not one second longer than the final release version, and the shorter the better.

They could start by cutting Cyborg's story back almost as much as in the final film.
Honestly, the "Cyborg is the heart of the movie" thing is just bullshit, stuff they all repeated back and forth to one another until they believed it. Fisher's got nothing much to show, and Victor's story is assembled from the most overworked and over-familiar set of cliches about fathers and sons that Hollywood is capable of. You can see every beat of it coming before it happens.

Finally had time to watch the rest of the movie, and I fall into the camp that this was a really great film and could have been a fine theatrical release with the running time edited down.

First off, Cyborg and Steppenwolf look so much better in this version. Cyborg's story arc is well done and I really like Fisher in this role.

This movie could easily have been edited down to a little over three hours for the cinematic release and I think it would have been well received. For example, the epilogue could have been removed almost entirely with a shortened version of Batman's nightmare placed toward the beginning of the film. There were enough "character" development scenes that could have been removed or shortened with decent editing. The film could have held up well with Batman's "something darker" response to Lois Lane was the key being removed. If Batman had been the one to realize that and he was the one to find Lois when the team was fighting Superman, that would have provided a nice connection to Batman Vs Superman.

All the actors really felt right for their parts. This movie was really cast well, and now I feel we are missing something by not getting an Affleck Batman movie or a Cyborg solo film. I also see how well this movie could have fit with Man of Steel and the BvS extended version.

I really loved the action scenes. The characters felt like watching a comic book come to life and I finally had those Justice League hero moments I felt were missing in the Wheadon version.

I know a lot of people have different opinions on this movie--I'm not typing this to argue with other's thoughts--this is just my two cents.

The Snyder version would never have been 4 hours if it was going to the cinema. With this going to streaming he just thought he should give the fans everything, with the additional 5 minutes that was done for this cut.
I read somewhere the theratical version would have been around 2 hours and 40 minutes. I have no idea what would they would have cut. The only thing that comes to mind is the second communication with Desaad since it felt superfluous.

I LOVE the Snyder Cut as it is right now, but also very much feel that it is flawed. And I agree, this is not what would have been the actual Snyder Cut if he had been allowed to make his movie a few years ago. This is him just going all out with everything he had and could make now with either CGI or some reshoots.

The opening WW heist sequence could be cut. Yes, it was really cool but ultimately did nothing for the story. Also, a lot of the scenes could have been edited to be shorter and still remain intact. Bruce's conversation with Arthur, a number of the opening scenes with Victor, etc.

Snyder has said that since HBO asked him to make the version of the movie he had wanted to make that he took that literally. This version would have been a great DVD/BluRay version to market after the theatrical cut had been released.

Agreed. They were the best casting choices in modern day superhero films that had their own voice, yet took some of the best, core traits of their comic book versions.

The action actually served a purpose, unlike too many superhero films where its loud action and explosions for the Hell of it, or tired attempts at spectacle.

The fan chosen "Cheer Worthy Moment" at the Oscars went to The Flash entering the Speed Force.
They did this through Twitter, and fans were supposed to pick their favorite "cheer worth moment" out of all of movie history, and that is what they picked. I haven't seen the Snyder Cut, but I find it hard to believe it was really that good.
It was really, really good, but also Snyder fanboys ballot stuffed. Ruined a somewhat cool concept.

I know his fans ballot stuffed because Army of the Dead won people's choice... and most people didn't even like it!

It is. Best superhero movie of the year.
Of the year maybe, but would you really say it was the best "cheerworthy" moment in every movie ever released in the history of cinema. This was not supposed to be for this year, this was supposed to be of all time.
