So Mother! was review bombed too? (Not saying a website cannot be manipulated in this day but not all such disparities are conspiratorial).

Mother! had an F Cinemascore, and the reason for that and the low audience scores is marketing it as a mainstream horror movie. Last Jedi has an A Cinemascore, 7.8 on imdb and 55% RT Audience score. One of these things is not like the others.

I'm partial to actual facts and, you know, investigation. The kind of Internet clickbait/fan butthurt conspiracy stuff that gets referenced as such here just doesn't cut it.

My issue was with the article (whose author seems to think such disparities are impossible), not with you. One can be correct about a main point and incorrect elsewhere in a written piece.

From your linked article: "It’s hard to discern whether reviews of the movie are genuine or, as some outlets have reported, generated by bots or organized attacks from 4chan."

Hard evidence indeed.

Followed by a link to a group taking credit for review bombing. And if they are just lying, then its a bit weird that angry Star Wars fans only go to RT to voice their displeasure.

Someone is claiming something on the internet?!

Say no more! I'm positively convinced of it's veracity!

That is weird. :vulcan: They only go to Rotten Tomatoes user reviews. Oh, and 4chan... and Facebook... and Reddit... and Twitter... and...TheForce.net...and YouTube... and TrekBBS... and...

I don't give a crap about the ratings one way or the other, I enjoyed both films, but had somebody told me 2 years ago that the sequel to TFA would take more risks than the sequel to BvS I probably would have laughed them off...

From the very beginning, Disney has been hinting at the fact that Episode 8 will take more risks than 7...

If by "Take more risks" you mean:

"Have plot elements (like say 5+ First Order Star Destroyers that can't find a way to catch up with and destroy ONE Resistance Transport)..."

OR

Have an utterly lame light saber fight (the fight choreography was awful in comparison to stuff like the Qui Gon Jin/Obi Wan Kenobi Lightsaber duel with Darth Maul at the end of PTM done in 1999) fight with Rei and Emo Vader VS nameless Red Armored 'Force' Guards...

Yep - it was 'risky' all right. ;)

I rhink it's really cute that you keep offering links to clickbait crap as if they're "evidence" of something.

Do you need a direct link since you can't be bothered to read?

Is it proof? Nope. Is it evidence? Yes. Is it unusual for RT audience score to be this different from a Cinemascore AND IMDB score? Yes.

Anyway, we are having this discussion in the wrong forum. If you feel the need to keep telling us how cool you are by not trusting anything on the internet while posting on an internet message board we can take it to the Star Wars sub forum. If not, feel free to believe whatever makes you happy.

Spoilers? This is NOT the Star Wars forum, nor even a thread about Star Wars. And the movie hasn't even been out a full week.

Pretty light spoilers, but this discussion needs to get out of here. I apologize for my participation.

With 220 million domestic, and 416 million worldwide, and using the divide domestic by 2 and worldwide by 4 rule for determining actual profitability, it seems that as of this weekend Justice League is finally slightly profitable.

Having said that, I'd guess that it underperformed by about $400 million vs expectations so it will be forever remembered as a massive financial disappointed (though no longer a flop).
