True. The greatest comic book movies -- Donner's Superman, Jenkins's Wonder Woman -- elevate the genre by fully embracing its pop-mythic essence with intelligence, humor, and heart.
You want some more cheese with your whine?
Nah, it'd be successful regardless. If you want something paper thin, it's how Dark Knight falls apart if it wasn't for Ledger dying making it immune to criticism.
The days where CBMs had to be "grounded" to be seen as worthwhile are over, and good riddance. Now the MCU elevated the genre to the point that all their wondrous stuff can be openly appreciated.
Wondrous as in, non-sensical, make shit up on the spot because anything goes types of movies?
No thanks, I'll take grounded.
And yet the Dark Knight is better than anything the MCU has ever crapped out
Where do you come up with this stuff?
And you're basing this off of what? What evidence do you have that people were ashamed of comics?
You're the only one in here crying--as you do every, single time any board member expresses their opinion on the tattered MCU.
Aww. biitter because TDK was a solid masterpiece throughout, which respected its source, instead of being influenced by Transformers movies, such as most of the MCU.
Obviously incorrect
This is the reason the majority of the MCU are not the kind of films to revisit, as they cannot stand up to even a moment of rational thought.
Without question.
He thinking its clever to be disrespectful to the memory of a dead man.
He has no evidence. Comics were always a take it, or leave it interest at best.
I am no fan of the current DCEU, but to be fair they DID make Green Lantern which had plenty of aliens and weirdness.Nope, people aren't ashamed of stuff like Magic or Aliens that aren't stuck on Earth anymore. DC never would've had the balls to make a Superman movie where he's actually out in space on other worlds before the MCU paved the way for them. They've elevated the genre instead of selling out.

Replace the first Burton movie with Batman Returns and I'd agree with most everything you said.I think that Tim Burton's first Batman deserves inclusion though as an absolute perfect example of blending the absurdist aspects of classic comic extravagence with brutal realism. Michael Keaton is the best Batman in my opinion because he was so unfit for the role to begin with. He seemed legit crazy. And Bale, Affleck couldn't seem to access that same place of brokeness mixed with charm that he could.
Well it's true. MCU was making movies about Thor and Cap while DC struggled to get a Superman movie out.
Why cant people just enjoy both Marvel and DC movies. I do.
Another disaster. Not only is it the only movie that did not increase from Monday to Tuesday, but it also dropped 2/3 from last Friday! (Thanksgiving Wednesdays are compared to Fridays) This is even worse than I feared...Another $10 million for Wednesday to go with Tuesday's.

According to the article Coco beat Justice League to 2nd place. I must be living in some alternate reality. Next thing you'll be telling me is that Britain's leaving the EU and Donald Trump is president.
What's surprising? A pixar movie will always open at number 1...
Unless it is about a dinosaur and it's human pet. What's surprising? A pixar movie will always open at number 1...

Excpet for all the fans claiming the only competition was Star Wars, not some animated movie...
No you have to pick a side and fight. And fight and fight and fight until these threads become a chore to scroll through. Why cant people just enjoy both Marvel and DC movies. I do.
