It might be too late for a Daedalus, although a a ship with decades of history does have appeal. A old battle wagon still running strong.
Now I'm hoping they make the Discovery a Daedalus class. (Not that ball and cylinders design though)
Pretty sure Fuller and Co. are gonna go with what they've already planned. Sorry if that doesn't suit you.
Or maybe you should just wait until May to see what they've planned. Maybe you'll end up liking it even though it isn't taking place on a Connie with Pike in command.
Or maybe you should not make assumptions on the reason for this thread. Not exactly a conversation starter.
And what does not "suit" me is how haphazard the production of DSC has become, first with the roll out of the design, and now with the delay. I blame that on CBS trying to micromanage the roll out of the series, rather than allowing Fuller and company do their job. Trust me; I am looking forward to the series, but the excitement has been somewhat tempered because of what has been going on. Apologies for my "soap box".
If a return to Captain Pike and a Daedalus is wanted, why not go back even further to Forbidden Planet? We can then have a flying saucer, an all-male crew wearing hats, and a robot! No joke!
Or they weren't decommissioned after all, Starfleet is notorious for it's poor and inaccurate record keeping.we can't see Daedalus class starships, because they were all decommissioned in 2196! To actually see a Daedalus class in DIS would mean that, (gasp!) it's not the Prime universe
Or, better yet, do the adventures of Captain Pike and crew. Other than the Spock casting bring problematic, I would not mind this.
