I just bought a PS3, finally, yesterday. I chose it over 360 because I also wanted a Blu-Ray player.
I got NBA 2k11 - which is phenomenal. But going forward, I'm a little overwhelmed by all the titles, and all the features of the PS3. I browsed the PSN store, and downloaded a few free demos, but it was hard to sift through everything.
So a few questions...
1) What are the top AAA titles I should be getting?
Note, I already played Arkham Asylum on PC (it was amazing, will be getting Arkham City on launch day). I've also already tried Fallout 3 and Dragon Age on PC (great presentation/graphics/story but I didn't enjoy combat in either of them. Regardless I still have DA on PC so I wouldn't double dip).
F13 and MGS4 are on my list to get at some point. I also hear a lot about Uncharted 2, but is it ok to jump straight in without playing the first Uncharted?
Call of Duty: one of the demos I downloaded was I believe Modern Warfare 2 ("cliffhanger" in the snow? anyways it was fun even though i kinda sucked at it)... so this brings up an issue, where I'm massively confused by all the different versions of Call of Duty. There's CoD 3, CoD 4 Modern Warfare, Modern Warfare 2, something called "World at War" (wtf is that??). Which should I play?
What other games are really good? My favorite games have a mix of action and adventure and story.
2) PS3 features.
Ok so it can do Blu-Ray. and apparently Netflix Instant (waiting for a disc from Netflix to activate that). Can I play video files from my PC on my PS3 like divx/xvid? How would I transfer? USB stick?
3) PSN download-able games
Um, never heard of any of these, they are all like 10-15 bucks. Which of these are considered AAA titles?
4) odds and ends? Anything else it can do? I have the Slim so I don't think it lets you install linux like on the old one (I have a laptop so i don't have any real desire to do that). How about Playstation Home, are there a lot of people on it?
Great demos I should check out?
I really am impressed by the possibilities, I might never have to plug my laptop into my hdtv again.
