For the June art contest, we'll be giving LGBTQ month the Star Trek treatment!

Fancy depicting Culber and Stamets at the Kaseelian Opera? Or showing the Enterprise warp streaks with a distinctly rainbow tinge? Then this is the thread for you!

Here are the rules for the competition:

• the artwork you submit should be created during the month of the challenge
  
• only one final image can be submitted (although it may contain multiple views)
• your final entry should be posted in this thread (although dedicated WIP threads are appreciated)

Looking forward to seeing what people come up with.

It's a bit hard because...Gene had a certain point. On paradise Earth would be by the 24th Century, LGBTQ Pride would be non-issue..... I like to hope there's a colony out there descended from the Deaf community of the early 21st Century...possibly the Laurentian System mentioned in nuTrek. So perhaps...same for the LBGTQ community...

I'm probably overthinking this. Tho I think I have an idea.

I certainly can't speak for lgbtq communities, but I always thought that pride month was not just about overcoming prejudices (although that's a big component) but also celebrating people for being who they are. Infinite diversity in infinite combinations, as Star Trek characters like to say.

2) "Prejudice" is not the basis of the disagreement and
3) There are a lot of us who find the promotion of it as offensive and obscene but of course, that point of view makes no difference.

And I love your ideas. I so want that image of the Enterprise with rainbow streak! I hope I'll be able to work on my entry soon.

As for negative and potentially hurtful comments regarding the subject of LGBTQ+ people and pride that are unfortunately to be expected: This is neither the time nor the place to voice them here, so I'll kindly ask you to bite your tongue or get out. That's all I want to say about that and I hope I made myself clear. Thank you.

Straight people don't need a parade because every day is National Heterosexuality Day by default. The dominant group in a society doesn't need a public demonstration of their right to exist because no one denies them their basic civil rights or treats their very existence like it's a political issue that's up for debate. That's why White Pride marches or Men's Rights parades are bullshit organized by bigots and manbabies while the opposite are not. No one's taking away straight white men's rights.

I’ll be fine with LGBTQ people not flaunting anything as long as straight people do as well. No couples being seen together in public, no talk of straight relationships shoved down my throat, no straight couples in media (especially media geared towards children, Disney is especially found of this perverted trope) and no babies in public ever again.
