We've got some great entries already - keep 'em coming!
I think this will be my entry for this month, unless I have some other idea I like better. This image depicts a Save-the-Date invite to the wedding of Culber and Stamets.
Good day. I'd like to put this forward as an entry even though I created it as its own piece. I always liked Operation Petticoat, with Cary Grant and Tony Curtis and though that a pink starship just seemed right.
"The USS Hawkes served in the Romulan Wars with some notoriety as she was caught in drydock during a heavy refit. With only the red under finish applied, she was forced to depart immediately. Exposure to the hard radiation and vacuum of open space, quickly transformed the finish to matt pink. With only her name applied to the primary hull, the Hawkes served with distinction through the conflict earning Captain Lang and her crew several citations and commendations.
Named after the Rev. Brent Hawkes, famous LGBT activist in Toronto.
Nice. If you are able to...try to render it
The LGBT flag always reminded me of the STAR EMPIRE OF EPSILON INDII flag created by Franz joseph in the star trek technical manual.
The Franz joseph one came first before the LGBT one., wonder if franz's one had any bearing ?
here is the franz joseph one, with its original set colors
These are all looking great - and there is still plenty of time left in the month if anyone wants to have a go!
So it's the last day of the month, and I'm planning on putting a voting thread up tomorrow. If anyone is close to finishing an image and needs an extra day or two, please let me know, and I'll bump the voting thread back a couple of days.
I'm still working on my entry and hope to finish it later today.
Here's my entry
- Great explanation!
Here's my entry:
@Cyfa, that looks fabulous! What I love most about this, though, is the Rainbow IDIC on the upper left hand side. Cool concept!
Aaand here's my entry …
I'm not sure how many people remember Soren from The Next Generation, but “The Outcast” has always been one of my all-time favorite Trek episodes. It may not be perfect, but for its time it was pretty daring, I'd say. So here's Soren in the colors of the transgender flag …
Amazing, really strong graphical style! Do you use a wacom tablet of some sort? I'm curious how you made it - is the face done by eye, or by layering over a photograph?
Either way, it's a lovely piece.
I believe it was stated to be the cross-roads of the world while Conan brazenly flaunted his pan-sexuality by shagging a ball of fire in human form. Filthy pervert. Although in his defence, he had spent the last fifteen minutes of the movie wrestling with oiled, topless muscle men, so a change was as good as a rest.
Sorry, I forgot to get back to you about this. I did this illustration in Procreate on an Apple iPad Pro. I just love doing stuff like this on it. And yeah, I started out by tracing an actual screengrab of Soren, but shifted to hashing out the details without the photo.
Also, thanks for the nice words! It means much to me.
