Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley developing Star Trek reboot for Paramount

I think Trek can become as popular as it was again. You just need someone who has a vision and is talented enough to make it happen. Even when franchises are down like say Star Wars you always have the possibility of a "Andor" still being made within it. I would love to see Trek's someday have it's "Andor." It would be funny if the Trek version was also called "Andor" and was about Andorians.
How popular was Andor? As far as numbers go?

Also, by reports Andor was the most expensive production for Lucasfilm under Disney. So, it's not just a person with a vision but deep pockets too.

I'd be willing to bet that the rest of what he's saying is as accurate as that. In fact, I wonder how many times these so-called "sources" have already predicted that Kurtzman has been fired.

They predicted that Kurtzman would be fired from Disco for five seasons.

Since the name Andor was established in Star Trek close to twenty years before it was used in Star Wars, Disney wouldn't be able to fight this hypothetical matter.

Be that as it may, fighting Disney would be a VERY expensive proposition.

Can confirm.

Netflix is spending $400 million on Stranger Things Season 5.

Eight episodes = approximately $50 million per episode

Trek looks parsimonious by comparison.

A show about Shran's daughter grown up and maybe being the first Andorian in Starfleet might be fun. You could build a show around one character that spans their entire life. Season 1 focus is her at the Academy. Season 2. First posting aboard a Starship. Season 3 First command of small space station on the border of dangerous space. Season 4 Is her retiring from Starfleet and going into politics. Season 5 IS her dealing with a daughter and son. Son wants to go into Starfleet. Daughter wants to be a musician .Maybe do it as a cartoon because I know the idea of a show that stars a blue person might not be something that appeals to a wider mainstream audience.

Nobody gives a crap about Shran’s daughter.

Nobody gives a crap about Shran’s daughter.

She is barely a character. Thus a blank slate in essence as a adult. Part of the appeal of course is seeing Shran again though such a show would live or fail on how interesting they made her character to be.

But what's the story? If you're not telling a compelling story, I could give a fuck what action figures Lord Terry dug out of his toybox to play with again.

The story would basically be her life from Academy to Retired Grandparent. It would be the first time a Trek show focused on a single individual going through their entire lifespan just about. Which in turn would make each season a sort of a self contained season that has a beginning and end.

So why does it need to be Shran’s daughter? That’s just unnecessary fanwank.

Aside from not sounding especially compelling, the loud internet people who shared their disapproval of Discovery and Picard will probably spook them from a show centred too heavily on one character.

And this point unravels the concept further you could literally make it about anyone and have it make no difference. Choosing a child seen in a holodeck simulation who may not even be real just doesnt seem to have any hook.

It doesn't have to. The reason though is it would be the right amount of fan wank. We are talking about almost all new characters each season since we would be doing time and location jumps. Shran would be like one of the few anchors since she would be his dad. Which I think people would like. People like Combs and Shran. So him maybe being in 2 to 3 episodes a season in 10 episode season would be fun for old school fans. I would avoid most her characters which actually would be kind of easy since she would be a old women at best by the time you reached TOS time. Maybe President Archer guest spot at some point would be fun but that is about the only characters I can think of that would make sense.

So again, the character could literally be anyone since you're focusing on all the fanwank around them rather than the character themselves who should be the reason the show exists.
