Jon Favreau to produce & write live action show

Kathy and Jon seemed very proud of the work put into this show. Hopefully we'll get that movie screen experience on the tv.

For those that didn't watch, it wasn't just "we-did-a-good-job" proud, it was more like "we-went-super-huge-and-super-high-tech-and-this-is-going-to-blow-you-away" type of proud.

Of course Jon also mentioned that he's doing post-production on both The Lion King and The Mandalorian right now, so it's not a finished product just yet. But they were definitely hyping The Mandalorian as one of the biggest selling points on the Disney+ launch date.

Besides getting a trailer or footage, I wonder if they'll have any announcements about other live action Disney+ shows at that panel. Not just Cassian Andor and K-2SO, but I wonder if Kathleen Kennedy might say something about the Old Republic or Obi-Wan too.

Here's the Celebration panel (jump to the 16:00 mark for the start)...

I noticed they seemed to be just referring to the main character just as The Mandalorian, I wonder if that's all he'll be called in the show, or if his identity is going to a big reveal somewhere in the show itself?
I'm also wondering if we won't see him without his helmet, at least at first. So far all of the pictures I've seen he has it on, and I don't think I've seen anything mention seeing him without it. I had been assuming since they cast a fairly well known actor like Pedro Pascal that we would see his face, but now I'm not so sure.

Well. If they follow some of the Spaghetti Westerns style bits, than yeah, the main character can go without being really named. Just referred to as something my the other characters. ("Blondie" for example.) Basically the guy with no name who comes into town. Does something. Than leaves. If he has an identity, he doesn't provide it. He works off hard currency only. No banks for names. He has some sort of calling card that doesn't give a name perhaps. If one can just hire him that is. If he's more a roamer that lives of a mix of helping people out and criminal; activity, that who knows who he might be. One week he's having a shoot out with the local swoop gang that's been terrorizing a town. The next he's off to rob a payroll ship heading to Lothal. The week after that he's helping some old man get revenge for his daughter's murder. Next he's off to find some lost treasure from the Clone Wars, while working with and betraying two others like him.

Given Boba Fett's inspiration (and the sound of spurs in the soundtrack for when he walks) this would not surprise me.

Honestly, I really hope they stick with the no-name thing, at least for a while as it's such a classic trope of the genre.
I don't even need there to be an in-universe reason for it; price on his head, heir to the Vizla dynasty, a war criminal that once served Maul, or simply a past he'd rather forget. It kinda doesn't matter to me.

Boba Fett was originally introduced as exactly this kind of character: the quiet, mysterious black-hat gunslinger and I get the sense that's the mystique they're trying to recapture.

I saw all the hidden footage, it looks great.
They also brought back an Imperial Stormtrooper design from the EU, the Incinerator Trooper. Using the same armour colour scheme as it appeared 'The Force Unleashed'.

Save the backstory for Mandalorian Season 2! :techman:

Probably, though like I said, part of me wishes that they never do more than drop hints, if only to see if they can keep it up through the entire run of the show (however long it goes for.)

For a lot of fans (not me) the main appeal of Boba Fett was the mystique and mystery, so showing his backstory in AotC rather spoiled the character for them. It'd be nice if those fans could get at least a piece of this back.
