The BBC already do co-productions with American TV, HBO, Showtime, Amazon, Netflix, Starz, AMC, etc. and BBC America already Co-produce Doctor Who.BBCA wouldn't have the money. Netflix and Hulu are literally throwing cash out.

In other news, with the sad passing of Doctor Who, let us look back on forty-five of the most-loved deaths of Doctor Who.
Actually, this regen could net two doctors. The feminine and the valeyard. With missy and doc having to team up. But then that sets up a good female vs bad male ( possibly white male) political drama thing going forward. That may be also bad..

Reading that list, it is an absolute miracle that Doctor Who is still alive.
I'd like to see the origin of the Valeyard but I suspect that bit of canon might be ignored at this point.
I would like the think the Valeyard was created during Ten's regeneration into 11. Because it would have been between the doctors 12th and final incarnation. Also, since the doctor (10) was being very selfish about not wanting to go, there was a lot of negative energy that created the Valeyard and also severely damaged the Tardis. The Valeyard evened showed up a little later in the form of the dreamlord and showed up again as the person that said silence will fall (in the Tardis) that trapped River in the Tardis in 'The Pandorica Opens'
Heard the name, have no real familiarity with it. Assumed it may be a nickname for something else. *shrug*

Hence the whoosh.
Indeed. If Auntie needs to co-fund Doctor Who, they already have numerous relationships with other studios. I wouldn't be surprised if one or a few Indy Production Companies have looked at making it.
I saw some wacky quotes on the net like "Will the 13 Doctor menstruate? and so will she save the world if she has PMS?"
I sure we will hear it all in the next few months.
Amblin and Cinema Verity looked at it as way back as the nineties. Realistically though, who is always going to be in house BBC and BBC worldwide. Crown jewels and copyright.
Last I heard, the movie rights are still not own by the BBC.
This is one of my concerns. They can't ignore the fact she's a woman BUT they can't be preachy about women's issues which means they have to frame it as general human rights nonsense. In the end both sides are going to be disappointed. I hope they don't write her as bland and non-offensive to protect the brand.
Why would they have British accents? The last time the English had anything close to control of Normandy was the 15th Century. And at that time the language of the English aristocracy was French.I always though Piccard's family was from Normandy. I hear they have British accents.
They stated the Valeyard was from between the 12th and last incarnations. That might have been written assuming 13 incarnations, but now it could be at any point.
Tennant2 was technically the 12th incarnation and anywhere between him and the 508th could be the Valeyard.
Are they still with lumiere? That thing never ever got off the ground.
