This might sound odd but I never really saw the Doctor as a man. He always kinda seemed... above gender. He/She takes different forms and this time around it's a female form. Took way too long but it finally happened. 
1. You aren't dating the Doctor.
2. Saying someone can't do the job because of their gender is the very definition of sexism.
