What makes you say that?
That wasn't so much my point. My point is that the market is saturated. It isn't how much of a gap there is between Netflix shows, it's about how many different Netflix (et al) shows are being churned out. The pond is getting bigger and Doctor Who seems to be becoming a smaller fish in it.
It feels like the long gaps increase the chances of her finding another series or project that might cause her to leave.
I guess i'm set in the mind of RTD's consistent run from 1 to 4
April to July
Christmas Special

Right, but is churning out Doctor Who quicker really a solution to that problem? Because, honestly, I don't even have the time to watch all the shows I'd like to watch, and I asked around and don't seem to be alone with that problem. Adding even more Doctor Who would only cause more saturation. I personally would probably cut back on some other show in favor of DW, but others might choose the other way.
In comparison, limiting the output of DW episodes not only makes those more of an event for the audience, it also gives the makers a chance to put more effort into each individual episode.
Come to think of it, maybe they should move away from the weekly schedule and make Doctor Who a monthly event.
I raised that point myself on Facebook.Somebody on FB raised a good (and surprising) point - they may have been having to work around Bradley Walsh's schedule. For non-UK viewers, he currently hosts three game shows and a Sunday night variety show, so he's kind of in demand...
Too early to tell. They might not decide until summer or autumn. If there is one, it will be made after the episodes that broadcast after it.So I guess there won't be a 2019 Christmas Special?
The trouble is we were promised that the reduction in the number of episodes and the 50 minute running time would lead to better quality episodes, but that doesn't seem to have been the case.
I think we'll get something New Year's Day 2020, though I wouldn't be surprised if instead of a separate special it's actually the season 12 premiere. That's assuming the reports are true that season 12 will indeed air January 2020.This also suggests to me that we might not even get a NYD episode oin 2020

You know, as disappointing as this news is, I'm strangely cool with it. There will be plenty of other shows to watch in 2019, movies to see, books to read. I'll stay busy, and entertained. Doctor Who will be there in 2020.
