I just think that it doesn't matter if you call a ship a "warbird" or a "bird of prey". I didn't say it doesn't matter if you mix up ship classes.

Why couldn't Nero just say "Uh hi, I am from the future and my planet got blown
up, here is what happened could you kindly not let it happen again, and now I'm off to blow up Quonos for imprisoning me before I dissapear because I am changing the future" "Oh and thank Mr. Spock for me for actually trying to help."
Instead I was waiting for him to say "We will no longer bow down to anyone as slaves etc. etc."

That's nonsensical, but fine. How does this supernova travel faster than light, though?
You could say these are tiny nitpicks, but to me, it's tantamount to Kirk and Spock forming guns with their fingers and going "Pew! Pew!" instead of using phaser props.
Seriously, how hard is it to write real science fiction these days?

Just got back from seeing it a second time-- by the time I scroll through 172 posts I may forget but--
1) Yes, as a woman it very much bothered me that with only 2 women in the main credits, one seems to get all her scenes cut-- and then gets killed. So it seems like the boys club only alows one woman to play in it.
2) I also am wondering what the hell kind of captain that bridge crew is going to look as Kirk as being after him baiting Spock that way in front of all of them. Somewhere I read a comment about why no one stepped into to stop Spock. Maybe they were all appalled by what Kirk said, they were still in shock!
3) Why does Nero seem to think destroying Vulcan is going to stop Romulus from being destroyed, when Vulcan in fact seemed to hold the only hope to save it, but Spock just was too late?

The reference in Enterprise could be chalked up to a gaff by the character who spoke it. And the use of a "Klingon Warbird" in a Kobayashi Maru scenario could be meant to reflect that the simulated vessels have simulated attributes of both Klingon and Romulan vessels. Since those are two of the races Starfleet has been to war with, it makes sense to expose officers to as much training regarding their equipment as possible.

Scotthm, the film doesn't matter to you. To a lot of non-fans and a growing number of huge Trek fans, it does.
When all is said and done, Paramount will also think it matters, as will the new cast and production crew, and moviegoers for the second installment when it comes. You can blank it out all you want, but it still exists. It matters.
