Jennifer Lien in trouble again?

I thought Fury was a cute episode. It was nice to see Lien back, and the premise of the show worked for me - that this innocent got lost and scared when she fled the coop and found her way back, angry and vengeful only to be reminded by her friends of who she was and still is. The execution left a fair bit to be desired, but I saw nothing malicious in its production. Quite the opposite.

And you can't accuse me of hating Kes. I named my cat Kes. She was my little girl and she only died last year :(

I wish Jennifer well with her mental health issues. It's a bitch of a thing to deal with.
Cute?
:barf:

A horrible, insulting episode which never should have been made.

I can't understand why someone who claims to like the character can find anything good in that piece of s**t.

Let us compare with "Warlord". That episode was good! Kes was taken over by an evil entity but restored back to normal again. In the s**t episode, the character was totally destroyed. She arrived as a crazy lunatic and left like a pathetic wreck. Character destruction at its worst.
I hate it!

There were more than dozens who wanted Kes back. The letter campaign for re-instating Kes got a lot of response.
Was there any indication Lien wanted to come back? What was established on VOY for the Kes character could've been explored through the entire run of the series I thought.

It's disappointing that you think mental health issues - from which Kes was clearly suffering - made her a 'crazy lunatic' and a 'pathetic wreck.' As a fan of Lien, who has been battling mental health issues for some time, I thought you'd want show more kindness and understanding. Shame.

I think that is what they might have been going for but it doesn't play that way. At the end you basically got young Kes telling old Kes she is to be blamed for leaving which does have a negative sutext due to Lien being fired which wasn't her choice. Jason

I have no reason at all to be ashamed.

I have all compassion I can possibly have for people who are suffering from mental health issues ,not only Jennifer Lien but people I know personally as well.

But I don't like the character destruction we had to see in that s**t episode where badly explained "health issues" were invented and used to destroy a beloved character and by doing so also insult about 95% of the fans of that character and fans of the acress as well.

By the way, where were your compassion when Jennifer Lien was fired from Voyager, an event which may have had an impact on her mental health as well?

As far as I am aware, we don't know exactly why she was let go from the show. We weren't there.

It is also very unfair to blame the show's producers for any issues she has had later in life.

I don't really understand why this thread is still going. It had to do with news from January 2018. Just move on, and let her move on, I say. And cheer her on in her progress.

I totally agree here in your comment about Jennifer Lien and that we should support her and wish all the best for her.
But I do think that we have to separate what has happened to Jennifer and the fate of the character Kes.

Then I look forward to you no longer referring to distressed people as 'crazy lunatics' and 'pathetic wrecks.'

What I did was refer to a character in Star Trek Voyager who was deliberately humiliated and destroyed in a horrible episode which never should have been made, not actual people!

If she’s just a character why have you spent 20 years whining about it?

There are plenty of bad Voyager episodes, but they weren't some vindictive move on the part of the writers to punish the audience or actors.

Fury was bad, but I doubt it was a 'middle finger' to the audience.

Yes. Show Biz is cruel. Many actors were fired in worse situations. I'm not sure why this thread is going on especially with no new information.

More like a middle finger to the Kes character. Normally, special guest appearances from a beloved character the writers of Star Trek try to make the characters' appearance, you know, special. For instance, when Denise Crosby made her return to TNG, her character got "Yesterday's Enterprise", and her follow up episodes like "Redemption" and "Unification"; Jonathan Frakes made a special appearance on DS9 and we got "The Defiant", it may have been the doppelganger Thomas Riker but the episode for me felt special. "Fury" I didn't get that, the episode was a really weak time travel episode and did nothing to propel or give optimism for the Kes character.
