Well... there is the issue of time at the moment as well. Mum-in-law has moved in, and we have a diagnosis of what's going on with her, so my time is looking out for her and doing my own things when I can. It won't be forever, but it will be the current future. On top of that, we have my failing health and all the fun of tooing and froing to the hospital.
But when I can, I will dive in and do stuff :-)

My "heavy carrier" needed some rethinking, so I have decided to give it a new central body and redevelop the idea -

so uh, we're gonna "blame" you for pointing out Khadas. as soon as our tax return hits the account, a Mind 2, xPlay, and Graphics 2 will be on their way. gonna be a very bonkers step up from our current Zen 2400 and GTX 970, lol.

Mind Pro is the way to go, as well as the aforementioned Graphics 2 and xPlay. yeah, the two things that are important to us personally are 64GB ram and 2TB storage, and for $1k less the weaknesses of the 2 vs the Pro don't seem to be enough to justify the difference. especially when we're already zooming way ahead from our ancient zen2.

oof, take care of your leg. we're dealing with diabetes, pots, cfs, and random other long covid bs, but we do not envy what you're going through in the slightest.
All Khadas Minds have an NVMe expansion bay on the bottom. 2230 in size, so max 2TB - but that doubles your storage. Khadas sell the 2230 2TB ssds at a very reasonable price as well.
Yeah, the communicator is connected to my phone when at my desk. Have the phaser and tricorder too.
