  1. Finish the mesh proper, rooms, shuttle bay, spot lights. <DONE
  2. Work on navigational deflector ideas. <DONE
  3. Self lighting rig. <DONE
  4. Look at adding an executive/plugin shuttle for the dorsal surface - OR - additional detail on upper bay. <DONE
  5. New shuttle type. <DONE
  6. Production Renders. < IN PROGRESS
  7. MSD style cutaway of the Horizon.
  8. Dedication plaque for the Horizon.
I've left myself provision for more shuttles, this ship could easily fit 4-6 of them. But for the purposes of what I'm doing, two is fine at the moment. Cookies if you figure out the name theme for the shuttles (Gilmour, Mason...)

Comments welcome, more soon!

More to come...

Bakup drive has failed again - thanks a bunch Cruical. Secondary backups ok and safe. Sourcing a new drive, things are on hold until I get this sorted.

More soon.

I've been thinking about my next 3D project (Trek wise). I've done ships of the 23rd Century - the 24th, and perhaps with the last one, the early 25th(?). I think I'm going to jump to a later period... Maybe the 32nd Century and see what I can come up with...

But more on that later. Family first.

Heya,

Just jumping in as I've blasted through this thread in the last couple of days. I think your work here is fantastic, especially with the 'viable versions' of cannon ships. Your work speed is also phenomenal, I was wanting to add to the deflector suggestions for the Horizon (Love the class patch's Dolphin arrowhead) and you'd already bazed through to shuttle and beauty pics.

Far future designs would be very interesting to see from you, given how futuristic the Delphin class looks. Would you ever think of doing some TOS or pre-TOS ships?

Thank you!

I'm actually looking at doing a 32nd Century Starfleet ship next - or rather my take on one. Been studying the designs of them, and their is a lot to like about them (the return to phaser banks rather than phaser arrays, "negative space," detachable hull sections, the complete joy in designing something that looks good, and works "just because").

I've done a fair few TOS movie era ships in this thread, but if you mean pre movie era - yes, it's something I have thought about. It's a very different style, so it would be fun to play with. Maybe a TOS version of the Miranda, or something else... Hummmmm.... Going to jump to the far flung future first, and then look back.

More soon!

And so we begin...

750 meters long as per the show, and only 18 decks. But I have begun!

Comments welcome (with caveats, see below), more soon!

PS:
I get that for some folks DSC doesn't float their boat. I get it. I hate the JJ stuff. But... I don't want to derail this thread with the pros/cons of current Trek. I'm asking, nicely, if you could leave those comments for another thread. Thank you in advance.

So here's my thinking so far - what if Starfleet of the 32nd century decided it was time to build another refit Crossfield and mirror the spore drive technology? So this will be the USS Raleigh NCC-325107. I'm limited on reference material on this one, so going ahead with the Raleigh means I don't have to do a one-to-one match...

Thoughts and comments on that welcome, More tomorrow ;-)

I'm more of a fan of the "prototype" version that we saw in the first DSC teasers with the smaller nacelles, if I'm honest. Different strokes, an' all that...

Nice image.

Yeah, I have to admit I did think about playing with that one, or doing something close to the McQuarrie/Adams concept.

The Crossfield, as seen on screen, has grown on me. The refit done in season 3 is quite nice. I happen to have that one in STO, which is where I am getting reference material for this project, such as I can. I know the length (750 meters) and the number of decks (18). Having played with a few 32nd Century Starfleet ships in game, I think I have a handle on the "look" and "feel" of the style and design cues of the time. The Raleigh is going to lean more to the look and feel of the rest of the fleet rather than the dark look of the now NCC-1031-A. Not sure why they went with such dark tones on the refit rather than the nice light look of the rest of the fleet - but plan to go with a lighter coloured hull scheme :techman:

Got a lot of tweaking and balancing to do before I start getting into the detail. The inner ring of the saucer isn't sitting right at the moment, and it's bugging me. I may rebuild it again (seventh time might be the charm, :brickwall:).

As for the nacelle length... I might (maybe, possibly,) play with it. But, first I want to get a handle on the ship.

Anyways, enough waffle from me. More tomorrow!
