Jayru (JSnaith's) 3D Trek

Here's a question for you all to ponder whilst I am away: What would you say to seeing a TOS style Excelsior?

In-universe, the Transwarp Project must have started during the 2260's, so the original design of the ship could have been more Jeffries in look. What do you all think? Something to look at when I get back?

as long as it's not just an Excelsior body with inflated Connie nacelles and the greebles smoothed over, I'm all for it. I've seen a couple takes on this idea over the decades, and they usually tend to lack a certain . . . originality to them. hope you can come up with something good! :)

A wide saucer with more layers.

To quote Shaw, the waterdeck upper surface of the saucer has a raised (low) dome with the B/C deck atop that—and the bridge atop that.

Maybe an additional layer on a very wide saucer to keep the elegant lines.

Very rakish!

The best part is that there is good separation between the nacelles and the top of the secondary hull shuttlebay—more so than with Ingram.

It’s a wise choice to use Grissom-like engines for this. That ship had a considerably lower registry number than the Enterprise, which one could infer makes her an older design, but still a contemporary. They work really well here without looking anachronistic. Well done!

This is my opinion only I find that the spike at the end of the engine too long would prefer to make it shorter but keep the engine the same overall length I'd also add an aft dome at the end to link the tos era warp engines. Great start on the tos Excelsior looking forward to seeing what you come up with.

An Excelsior body with inflated Connie nacelles? Sounds to me like that’s the Parton-A class… ;)

How about straight-line pylons, rather than the bent ones?
And maybe a protruding NavDef?

Like it so far, look forward to see where it goes!

Dave told me to get on with it this afternoon, as I have little to do today other than overthink Friday...

so,

And for the record - this is what inspired my thoughts on this:

Obviously, I'm not doing a direct copy, just something inspired that fits with the Excelsior ethos.

More soon

Small updates -

And...

That's really it until I get back. Pre-surgical assessment this afternoon, tomorrow is blood day, Thursday I will be packing and having some physical therapy... and Friday, it all starts.

Be back soon. Take care.
Q'apla!
