Yeah, I thought it was a rather stupid headline myself. Just watching the news, you can see journalists itching to call everything a meltdown, a "chernobyl", every chance they get.

What they want to do, though, is cause panic. "Meltdown" every other word, "partial meltdown", "but it's a meltdown, right?". It's actually really sad because it's ratings grabbing in the middle of a terrible crisis.

I agree with the rest of you guys. These are the dumbest group of morons yet. After WW2, most Americans felt that the 2 nukes we dropped on Japan was more than enough for Pearl Harbor, and were sadden by the results of such weapons. Besides, Japan has been our allies for decades.
Someone should remove their heads from their butts and give them a proper ass kicking.

That's great news! I've read that there are not that many injured because most people drowned and if you escaped the waters didn't hit you at all.

Alas the baby story doesn't seem to be true
I thought the baby looked too clean to have been pulled from the rubble but then I decided that maybe medics had cleaned her up before wrapping her in a blanket.

I'm in Tokyo, where we had only some long-lasting shaking but little real damage. Only 6 people were killed in Tokyo. Train service was suspended for a day to check for damage, which caused me and several million other people to try to find alternate ways to get home the day of the quake. I walked for 10 km through downtown until I was finally able to get a cab in the near-western suburbs. To cope with the expected electrical shortages due to the nuke plant shutdowns, the electric company has instituted a series of rolling blackouts in the Tokyo metro area. As a result, train service is occassionally suspended. So, only inconvenience; nothing like the hell they're going through up north.
