The internet is full of trolls. This isn't surprising that people would make fun or light of what has happened in Japan or any disaster.

If these people believe that you get a natural disaster payback for military attacks they should move IMMEDIATELY to the middle of the desert, but not of course near any tornado zones.

I don't think I've ever seen a bigger collection of ignorance all in one place before. :( I'm not sure which was more disturbing - the general sentiments being displayed, the individual who referred to the Japanese having "nuked" Pearl Harbor, or the individual who claimed that the Japanese "started" WWII.

Every single one of those people needs to be smacked upside the head and reminded that a) Pearl Harbor was 70 years ago, and b) if "Mother Nature" was a real entity who wanted to avenge Pearl Harbor, I think she would have done it a lot sooner.

Hey, Cap Flukie! That horizontal east of San Fran in you final pic...what is that? Geology class was a while ago for me. Does it just look like a crack? If it's not similar to the MID-Atlantic Ridge, what is it?

No blackouts yet but with the trains down, I can't get to work even though the school is open. Which is frustrating.

As far as I am concerned the guy who made the nuked Pearl Harbor remark win the prize of being the biggest fuckwit out of a herd of fuckwits because his full statement was

I have never heard anyone call people from Japan 'krauts' before.

As the bombing of Pearl Harbor was 70 years ago, anyone responsible for it was dead long ago and the vast majority of Japanese alive today were not born when Pearl Harbor was attacked.

Indeed; I think even if it were reasonable to hold grudges 70 years on, Pearl Harbour would be a fair way down the list of events which would justify it, especially in light of the eventual retaliation. I was equally unimpressed with an Australian acquaintance of mine who mentioned other WWII events. Hell, some people have even brought up dolphins and whales as "karma".

Pearl Harbour is actually trending on Twitter, though I note many of the comments are attacking those who made the sort of comments I linked to.

Actually, I believe the Japanese sent donations to help us, both after September 11th and after Katrina. If any "payback" is required, it's that of generosity: we ought to repay them for how they helped us in our own time of need.

Yeah, then they can see how "funny" radiation is.

On that subject--NHK is reporting there is an explosion of some kind (possible hydrogen explosion) being reported at Fukushima Daiichi reactor #3.

Also, they are reporting another tsunami coming in. (EDIT: That is in doubt now...Japan's meteorological association says it may not be happening.)

You know I'm not hoping reporters actually die, but I will admit a part of me hoped that this crew on CNN I was watching got trapped by a tsunami.

So basically they're 'covering' rescue attempts as crews go through rubble... My thought was kind of "Umm, let the rescuers just do their job and stop wasting their time interviewing and if you're interviewing them while they're on a break...let them take their well deserved rest without having to answer your questions."

However, the main reason I kind of wanted something to happen to them was a warning siren sounded about a possible tsunami coming in so the rescue workers had to stop searching for trapped people in the rubble and pull out to higher to ground.... But what does the news crew do? The reporter states "While the rescue crews move to higher ground, we are heading in the opposite direction, towards the water."

Umm...What the fuck? If it didn't mean that people possibly still trapped would be put in further danger by a tsunami wave coming into town and passing back over already damaged buildings I'd want to see this news crew run up the steps to a roof to get away from a tsunami coming at these fuckwits.

I wouldn't want to see them die. But about their behavior--that's surprising...I would never have imagined it. Fox News' correspondents retreated immediately when they heard the warning.

EDIT: They think the wind may switch directions in a few days. If there were something REALLY bad at the nuclear plants, when it does, it could blow inland. :(

OMG! The level of ignorance displayed by those people bitchin about Pearl Harbor is astounding. I don't know whether to laugh or get sick to my stomach, or both!
