Janeway wants in...

what's wrong I loved Janeway but I can't see them putting Kate Mulgrew in just Shatner

Yeah I agree she doesn't belong in the Shatner universe. Her role in Nemesis was sound and it worked, but it would break all barriers if she was included in Star Trek XII.

Actually, her role in Nemesis could have been played by anyone. All she does is ask Picard if he wants to go to the Romulan Empire. She mentions nothing about events in Voyager, and neither does Picard. It was just a glorified 20 second cameo.

As for her returning as Janeway in any future installment of Star Trek, I think that would be a horrible idea...especially as the ship's computer. I couldn't stand her grating voice in Voyager (although she would in all honesty work if she imitated the TOS computer's choppy voice...)

Maybe it's just me, but the last answer sounds pretty sarcastic.
I don't know about sarcastic, but I do get a strong impression that she wasn't being entirely serious.

It didn't strike you as odd that she stated it would be a good idea to get "Picard" in there, and not the actor that played "Picard"?
Not especially, no. Maybe she really would be interested in working on a future J.J.-Trek project, but it struck me there that she was making a joke.

I want in Janeway.
Oh, my!

Mulgrew voicing the computer is one of the best suggestions I've ever heard.

I AGREE.

What an awesome idea!

But would she settle for a cameo?

Seriously, that is an interesting idea.
It's a probably more substantial role then what she got in Star Trek: Nemesis, at least in the sense she'd be in the movie the whole time.

I actually like this idea, but given how many people disliked Mulgrew's voice as Janeway I'm surprised nobody brought that up.

I think more people liked her voice rather than disliked it. Her smokey timbre is signature.

I love the idea of Mulgrew as the ships computer. Hope Orci and Kurtzman are reading this thread.
Probably are. It's not as if they seem especially eager to start writing the next film. Personally, I think they're out of ideas.

They don't need ideas, they can just do TWOK.
That's what I'm most afraid of. Heck, offer me money and tell me to have Khan in it, and I could write a reasonable effort, I imagine.

I wouldn't mind seeing Janeway back (although there are probably 20 characters I'd like to see first). I just don't want to see anything more from the dolts who wrote the character so badly. Fortunately, they're history. :bolian:

I don't want TWOK. But it seems like a very safe bet and in keeping with current trends to do it.

<NERO>WAIT!!!!!</NERO>

Let's rethink TWOK and cast it for a new era. Khan can be FEMALE. Mulgrew can play Khan. OMG this will be like some kind of gender frontier thingie!!

Remember Janeway in Year of Hell with all the sweat and dirt and sleeveless top and muscles?!?! Just make her like really deranged and you have Khan, evil eugenic would be Empress of the world.

Yeah I hope they do not include her in any of these movies. If they do, that alone may ban me from seeing the film. To be all honest, I'm a little tired of all the "cameos" of other Star Trek actors in the films. But to have Shatner back, well, that's different :) He's Star Trek.

If you remember, when Robert Picardo appeared in First Contact, he didn't mention anything about Voyager either. That's the one thing about the TNG films I never understood... why did they always have to include actors from other series. The only thing that made sense was when Worf appeared in First Contact.
