Have you seen the new Star Trek film?

I haven’t, I imagine that I’m going to be asked that all the time! I haven’t, but not for any bad reason; it’s a reason of comfort. I did Star Trek myself, and I want to enjoy it when I see it, I want to be comfortable when I see it, so I’m going to wait until I can see it in my living room. I understand that both of those young men [Pine and Quinto] are extraordinary. I’m sure it’s beautifully done. I just want to see it in the comfort of my home.


Would you ever consider a return to the character of Janeway?

I would, I’d love to return to Janeway! I’d love to do her in a movie, it would be great.


So if JJ Abrams came along and offered…?

I’d love to do it! I think he’d be wise to do it, don’t you? He should get Picard and myself in there. I think that’s a brilliant idea.

That's was pretty much my reaction too.

Janeway was one of my favourite things about Voyager but she seems to be a Marmite captain (i.e. people seem either to love her or hate her). She'd be very acceptable to me as Number One actually.

Option one for ship's computer would be a simulation of Majel's voice based around her previous work but Mulgrew's clipped tones would be a fair second choice.

Maybe not it was just a thought that's all I don't want Janeway in because it won't make sense they are doing the TOS crew that's what they should stick with no cameos from Janeway, Picard or any other

I wouldn't write off Picard showing up, someone cameoing somehow from DS9, but I wouldn't imagine a big rush to include the crews from either Voyager or Enterprise. Besides, that would require yet ANOTHER time travel movie, and we've had frackin' enough of those!

Two things: VOY and ENT crews are the youngest, and they may want a female character. That's why some have posited T'Pol might show up.

A DS9 cameo/easter egg would be simplicity itself. Just have McCoy mention the gymnastics judge he met at Ole Miss and had a brief fling with, and how her spots went all the way down.

I like the idea of Mulgrew as the computer.

We had 21 years of just TOS before TNG et. al. began to add their baggage to the Trek universe. (Not that I minded - I liked TNG and DS9 - VOY only on occasion and ENT not at all.) Eventually the empire collapsed under the collected weight.

PLEASE let's have the new movie franchise stick to the TOS characters and timeline and find its own way. I'm sure that the writers can be creative enough to throw in a few bones for the later series Trek fans without being overly obtrusive.
