I've taken the plunge into Voyager.

While not some of my top Trek series, I've always wanted to get Voyager to help finish my collection (Still need Enterprise), and to see all the episodes I haven't seen, which is almost all of them. I've been waiting for a good price, and I found it today. I was able to get a amazing bargain, all seven seasons for $135.

I know from patiently shopping for these before and from other's experiences, these sets are heavily bootlegged. I compared screenshots closely and checked the seller's history (a long history of selling Vintage Trek related merchandise, a good sign, as the first dead give away is someone selling 20 copies of every tv show know to man). I'm convinced they are genuine, and feel very lucky right about now.

But to cut past that, I'm excited to be seeing most this series for the first time, and perhaps when It arrives I'll start posting more often to the Voyager forum. Everyone loves a newbie right? ;)

I'm watching for the first time, too (nearly through season 3), and another poster called Data Lover is also on her first viewing and posting here some. Glad to see another person joining in.

Congrats on your good deal on the DVD set!

Even thought I've seen the series a number of times, I've decided I'm going to revisit it also from the beginning. Watched Caretaker and Parallax last night.

That`s so great by Star Trek. If you are watching an epispode you know there`s anybody somewhere in the world who`s also watching right now.
@Tomalak Last night I also watched Caretaker and Parallax. :) :techman:

@ Kirkman, you are welcome. I hope you will enjoy the series as much as I do.

I'm actually always surprised when people say they haven't seen one of the series. As a Star Trek fan, you've never seen Voyager? I just find it weird (please don't take any offense because I mean nothing bad by it). I watched them during their original run, and for Voyager, that was like 15 years ago. I watched Enterprise during its run too. In Canada, there are Star Trek episodes from every series on all the time on Space. In fact, tonight I watched TNG 'Man of the People' and Voyager 'Deadlock'. I'm lucky that I don't need to buy any DVDs!

I watched Counterpoint on TV last night. What an excellent episode. Voyager can be very patchy but when it's good, it's very good indeed.

Welcome to the club, Kirkman!

I've seen episodes here and there before, including Endgame, but now I'm watching the whole show for the first time, in the middle of the 6th season now.

When Voyager's good, it's really good. When it's bad, it's abysmal. But most episodes are good entertainment IMO.

Personally, I'd say Voyager settled into a routine of acceptably consistant entertainment by it's fourth season, though there are some good moments in the first three seasons. It never got as good as the other 24th century shows, but it's not as bad as some trek fans make out.

Voyager was never bad imo! However I succeed the point there are some absymal episodes but that goes for all trek.....

Honestly I like Voyager but nothing really before season 3. I'm not a big fan of the Kazon arc.

This is why I finally decided to watch Voyager and Enterprise all the way through. I just didn't care for the few episodes I saw of them during their original runs, but decided I ought to give them a fair chance.

Haven't dug into Enterprise yet, but I must say I am enjoying Voyager much more than I ever thought I would.

Do you include TAS with your assessment? I ask because I've only seen one episode of that series and it's not really easily accessible these days. Yeah I can buy the DVDs but I'm not really going to because I could put my money to better use or save it.

I'm a late comer to the series too. In fact, I abandoned ST altogether when TNG was over. It was only in the last 3 or 4 years that, after seeing a couple of really good Voyager episodes on SciFi or Spike (one I recall was Course:Oblivion), I decided to add season 1 of Voyager to my Netflix. After watching season 1, I purchased the entire series.

It seems that a lot of Trek fans really dislike Voyager, but I love it. After watching all of Voyager, I moved on to DS9 and Enterprise (for those resisting Enterprise, as I did for so long, it's turned out to be my favorite series). Loved them both. Even though I missed out on their original runs, it's been a blast watching all the episodes for the first time. A nice feature of it was not having to wait a week to see what happens, or several months for the conclusion of a cliffhanger!

Enjoy your first run through the show. You only get to do it once! I hope you dig it as much as I do. :techman:

P.S. Glad I found these forums. I have had no one in my life to talk about ST with, as none of my friends are into it. Gets old discussing and debating all things Trek inside my own head.

Welcome, friend! I can say with confidence that over the next seven seasons you will see some of the best episodes of Star Trek ever produced.

But, boy, you are going to have to wade through a lot of bad ones to get to them...

Threshold's saving grace is that final exchange between Tom and Janeway in sickbay.

JANEWAY: I've thought about having children, but I must say I never considered having them with you.

Guilty pleasure, indeed!
