I have always been a TNG fan. I grew up on it. I was less of a fan of TOS, but I appreciate it's relevance. I've never been able to get into DS9 though. I tried when it came out, but it just put me to sleep. I gave up on it quickly.
In 1995 or whatever, I remember coming across DS9 on a Saturday night, just randomly flipping through channels. I ended up watching the entire episode "The Visitor". Wonderful episode. However, unable to watch back episodes, and unwilling to jump into the middle of a series, I continued to ignore DS9.
Now, having recently gone through the entire Enterprise series with the help of NetFlix, I've decided to go back and see if I made a mistake passing up on DS9 as well. Last month I got Emissary in the mail. So, if only for my own amusement, I think I'd like to chronicle my viewing of DS9 through virgin eyes.
I've already finished season 1. Honestly, the show was just as dull as I remember it being. However, I've pledged to give it a chance and see it through and sure enough, after a dreadful Luxwana Troi sighting, we get to some good stuff. I commented to my wife that the last three episodes of the season are the first that have really gotten my attention. Especially "Duet" and "In the Hands of the Prophets". Amazing how these episodes are still so timely today, 14 years later.
Anyway, the last two episodes of the season have given me hope. Sorry for the rambling.
