Is your avatar picture really you?

OK, I realize this may have already been done (and several times at that) and I'm leaving myself wiiiiiiiide open for sarcasm and jokes, but...

Some of you had non-picture avatars but have recently changed over to pictures, and that got me thinking about this thread. Some of you have pictures of people, live human beings (as opposed to dead ones), as your avatar. Some pictures are of people in Starfleet uniforms, and some in street clothes. Some are blurry, many are distinct, some are smiling, some aren't, some are serious and some are goofing around. And what made you decide to use a picture, or that particular pose?

I don't photograph well, but one of these years I'll have Mrs. SicOne take my picture with her handy-dandy digital camera and put it up as my avatar. And, knowing me, I'll probably be making a silly face. If it helps, think of me as a cross between George Clooney long past his prime, and Jabba The Hutt.

I'm sure many of us are curious if the picture is really you, and current or past. Feel free to post with a "yes" or "no", or additional information or, yes, jokes at my expense.

In my line of work, occasionally we have our train dispatchers come take rides with us. We talk with them on a daily basis but seldom see them in person, and it's always a novel experience to match a face with a voice on the radio. As we share our writings, I thought it would be nice if we could likewise match faces with names, and thereby foster a closer Trek BBS. Thank you very much for your time and attention.

I'm done, you can ridicule me now...

Yes. And I've posted plenty of pictures of myself over the years, so that can be verified pretty easily.

Yes. I've recently spontaneously combusted and discovered I was a robot. It was a tough week.

Yes thats me in that avatar, RevdKathy knows me IRL and so do Niorah, StolenThunder, Angry Angel and Aurian they'll back me up if needed. :p

Crap...I just noticed the "That's Me" avatar thread. Oh, well, let's continue...as I look at the first few pages, I guess I'm asking for more information than is being offered in that thread thus far, so let's keep this one going. Thanks to the three posters who put up responses in the two minutes between when I put up this thread and when I found the other avatar thread.

At the moment, yes, as I'm taking part in the "It's me!" Avatar week. Usually, I don't use a pic of me, because I prefer to stay anonymous on the net (I'm also reluctant in posting pictures of me) and because I'm not very photogenic. This is one of the few pictures I have of myself and where I don't look like an idiot.

Usually, the themes for my avatars are taken from entertainment I enjoy or think about at the moment. They're recognisable as not being me, I think. Well, one time I had a still from a German movie as my avatar, which would be largely unknown here, but it was still recognisable as taken from a movie.

That's me in the avatar (for now, at least). It up to you to decide which one is me! :D

This one is really me, yes. But...you have forced me to confess...when I was using the Dr. Selar or T'Pel avatars...that wasn't really me. ;)

I don't think I'd ever use as an avatar a photo of a regular-looking person who wasn't me. I know you can be anonymous on the Internet, and that's fine, but I think there's a difference between being anonymous while having fun doing so and out-and-out deceiving people, and I'm not comfortable with deception.

So, up until I started playing the "It's me!" avatar game, I had only used avatars depicting fictional characters or other people who were obviously not me. And that's what I'll go back to once I'm done with the "me" game.

If I had one of me disguised as Dr. Selar, that would be perfect.

And B.J., if that's you on the right, I am extremely impressed with your typing skills. ;)

It is me, and the shirt didn't start out pink, it was actually RED, it has REALLY faded

Yes that madly grinning face is me.

Since I mostly use Damar as my avatar I thought that I would use a photo of myself in a most unCardassian pose, to wit smiling broadly;)

I've never used a pic of me as an avatar. That's just seemed a bit over the top for me.

Yep, 'tis me. This is trampledamage in repose (note the lack of smile - I look psychotic when I smile) and I too am doing this for the That's Me avatar week. My seven days are up on the 12th, at which point you can all go back to thinking I'm a pink elephant.

Awhile back, one of the Admirals (doubleohfive maybe? sorry, I can't quite remember) made this avatar after I posted some webcam pics in the lounge. I like it because it makes my borg regenerator twitch in the background ;)
