Spoilers, obviously. I apologize about the potentially confusing title, I couldn't think of a better way to phrase it.

I've only seen the movie once just now, so maybe I'm crazy. It felt like the little slave boy at the end moved the broom to him with his mind. Is that my imagination?

Oh, don't get me wrong, I'm not expecting him to be a major character. My take is the same as yours. The Jedi aren't dead, a new generation can come. I just wanted to make sure I saw it right.

Jedi is a programming language to manipulate the force inside precise conditions.

Sith is another programming language, and there are probably dozens more, as well as force users who manipulate the force without a predesigned method (programming language).

Sith and Jedi are religions.

Religions are mummery and pomp for the ignorant.

Both sides of the force can probably be used without using words like "good" and "evil".

It's probably no different from AC vs DC.

Remember when McKay invented an enlightenment machine to trick the universe into thinking that he was spiritual by boosting the alpha waves in his brain, so that he could ascend?

People are tiny.

Even all the insects in the universe are nothing compared to the gravity of celestial bodies pushing against each other.

Dark vs light: Planets do not give a shit which side of the force is revolving them around a sun.

That was certainly my take too, that we were supposed to see the beginning of the next generation of Force users being inspired by the legends of Luke and the Jedi. The idea presumably being that while the religions of the Jedi and the Sith are dead (or nearly dead), the hope through the Force can be rebuilt.

Rey being a nobody doesn't mean anybody can use the force, it just means that bloodline isn't what matters. Force sensitive people will always be born.

It's pretty common knowledge that Force sensitives are constantly being born all over the galaxy and have been since long before the Jedi Order. Yet for some reason Rian Johnson decided to present the end of his fan film as though something new and exciting is happening.
As to Rey's anticlimactic parentage that probably owes more to the writer's habitual inability to creatively continue story elements that were entrusted to him. Besides, how the fuck can she not remember them in the first place? She couldn't have been too much younger than Jyn Erso, and that girl not only remembered her parents but Krennic, Saw, her nickname and mother's dying words, for God's sake.
I would ask if it ultimately proved to be unimportant in this film, why was it so damned important in the first one; But since I may have already answered that one myself, I'd much rather ask who really even gives a shit anymore?

Is it? Then why did Obi Wan and Yoda talk about Luke and Leia as the last hopes as if there would be no more after that?

Maybe because Luke and Leia are the last who they could train to become a Jedi?
Apparently you do not need training to become a Jedi

If Force powers can only be inherited from your parents, it makes the Jedi rule of celibacy rather difficult to understand; that rule would be narrowing down the pool all the time.

I vaguely remember reading a prequel era book, possibly the novelisation of TPM, which explained that when Force-sensitive children were born, the Jedi would sense this and go to their family and claim them for the Order. IIRC, this did not extend to the Outer Rim and so they didn’t sense Anakin. Obviously the book isn’t canon any more but the idea of random children having force powers didn’t surprise me, as a result.

Luke said in ROTJ that the force was strong in his family and refers in TLJ to “the mighty Skywalker blood.” It’s open to the viewer to speculate as to whether the fact that all of Anakin’s descendants are force users is the exception (mighty skywalker blood again) or normal among force users. If it was the norm, it again tends to make the Jedi celibacy rule seem somewhat short-sighted.
