Is it time to put Star Trek to rest?

Then quit watching, that’s what I did. Let others who do enjoy it to have their fun.
No. I already addressed this further back. Everyone please stop saying it... 😂..I'm gonna keep watching and offering critique. I merely asked a question. Thoughts for or against are welcome. I think it needs a true rest. If you don't fine.

I find I’m very happy to just dip in and out of the old stuff. TOS-Kelvin, though I suppose Kelvin isn’t that old.

If they are making new stuff and people like it they should keep doing that. It isn’t for me, but not everything has to be.

No.

And I bet you could find people asking the same thing in 1987, 1993, 1995, possibly 1979 and 1982. Maybe not 1968 because they were trying too hard to keep Star Trek from being put to rest.

A Star Trek fan's worst fear: That Star Trek people will make total crap and it will be a hit. And then the fan has to put up with other fans who just don't GET. IT.

(See also: Menace, The Phantom.)

I used to be with ‘it’, but then they changed what ‘it’ was. Now what I’m with isn’t ‘it’ anymore and what’s ‘it’ seems weird and scary. It’ll happen to you!

Maybe. You are correct that their are more Kurtzman fans here. I see a lot of outcry as well. Especially on reddit and YouTube. But still I'm not even sure I want a legacy series at this point. As much as I love the idea I think it will be sat on for too long like other ideas that were floated around for years. It's been over two years now and Jeri Ryan is not getting any younger. She would be 60+ by the time they would probably even consider doing it.
I absolutely loved Picard season 3. I thought it was the closure TNG needed. I am also a fan of Terry Matalas, which I think makes me an outlier on these boards.

That being said, I don't want, and have never wanted, his Legacy series. I have absolutely no interest in the adventures of Seven, Raffi, and Jack. Not at all.

Just my opinion, of course.

Oh, it's happening already! I'm on my second or third go. :) I can't even describe what happened where everyone hated Picard 1 and 2 (which I thought were OK and less OK) and suddenly RAVED about Picard 3 (which I thought was almost unwatchable).

I've gone from TNG being the New Stuff (that certainly had it's moments but never made me fall in love like TOS / TMP / TWOK did) to TNG now being people's beloved childhood.

The weirdest one was a few weeks ago when some people got to see a 1977 print of Star Wars on the BIG SCREEN and there was this trickle of reviews and fan reactions that was basically "Yeah, those looked pretty crappy. George did us a favor." (Nobody was able to explain to me where the sets and costumes that they were complaining about were "fixed" in the Special Editions.)

SNW brought me back to "It" but "it" might be a slightly different "it". Discovery wasn't "it" but if that was the only Star Trek I'd probably wander in and out.

I did at one point. But now I don't care.. 😂

Maybe I’m weird, but aside from the occasional stinker episode, I basically like every season of every series. I do think Voyager was a weak link, but I’ve grown a lot more able to enjoy it over the years; and hey, the cast was fine.

Season 3 did what it needed to do and most were satisfied by it which means it did its job.

I don't feel a desire to continue on with Legacy because I think that ignores the closure of Season 3. Much like the TNG films ignored so much of All Good Things.

Yeah. I'm not saying everything before 2009 was golden. There are some bad episodes indeed. In every series.

The thing is with the series running so short now and basically just mini series at this point with a predetermined end, they really can't afford to have gimmick or even experimental episodes. After A TWO year wait for new SNW I was completely underwhelmed with all three episodes so far. Disco season 5 was the last Trek I really took some interest in. Even I can like some nuTrek.... 😂

What I'm looking for is -serious- Star Trek. No more parodies or deliberate comedies or ... whatever.

Even though Strange New Worlds was supposed to get back to basics, it never really did. Too many issues with too many episodes. I've managed to ... somewhat watch a couple of episodes that were available online but, there's nothing there to draw me in.

(Magical injection that turns normal humans into Vulcans......):brickwall:
