Is it still showing where YOU live?

It seems that where Star Trek is still on IMAX some cheap theaters can't get it, anybody else have this happening in their area?

If true that means once IMAX loses it, Trek will get picked up by cheap theaters in those markets, which will pump up it's theater count again.

Best thing Trek can hope for is "restless leg syndrome", i.e., like Monsters v. Aliens, pulling in 100-300 K a week and picking up/losing theaters, but not at the levels of yore. It may push the movie past 200, who knows? Maybe Trek can make it to 260 in that creeping fashion.

SOB!:wah:

XI is gone from cinemas in Indianapolis.

Hasn't made it to the seond run theaters yet, so I can still try to tie Jeri.:rommie::beer::rommie:

It'll only be $2 a pop (50 cents on Tuesdays) when it finally hits Cinemark Greenwood Corners. Gotta go early in their run though, 'cause they only have one screen with a good sound system. After a couple weeks, it'll go onto another screen with shitty sound. Dunno if I can abide that.

Rackon, how many times did you go now?

I'm up to sweet 16 now. I'll have to drive 30 minutes to the dollar movies, and although I have the desire, I'm not sure I have the time to go more than once or twice more. I saw LOTR/FOTR many more times than 16...but...XI hasn't hit second run yet :vulcan:

The last couple times were really fun though, cuz I got to take newbies! And indoctrinate them! Plus, I participated in a mock trial last week, run by a team of NY legal consultants, and inbetween times we discussed how much we enjoyed XI! And the guys quoted the movie several times throughout the day! What a combo - St and patent law!

Well on Tuesday everybody can afford to go to the movies, but it won't pump up the box office very fast. Even if 300 people go it's only $150.00. At that price you can convince newbies to come with you, suck them in now, so they will contribute full price to XII when it comes out. :D

Whooo Hooo it finally hit the cheap theater that's walking distance from my house.

I'm gonna see it at least one more time before it disappears for good. :D

Yep, I saw it on IMAX in Boston last week. Although, they claimed they "don't get first run movies", so I don't see why being on a second run in IMAX would prevent cheap theaters from getting it.

That sounds pretty amazing! Wish that would happen to me.

Cool! :techman:

There's no theater anywhere within what could reasonably be called walking distance for me, but if it comes back to within 20 minutes' driving distance I'm there.

That's why when movies go into second run at $2-$4 per ticket the BO isn't too impressive .

Actually, the larger theater holds about 200 folks and it's JAM packed on evenings and weekends. ST could literally play there for months.

I hate the drive but I'll probably go. it's a buzz to see it in a full theater.

I'm paying with the soul of my firstborn to live where I do, but the advantage is that I'm walking distance to EVERYTHING.

I's quite nice. I actually feel like I'm getting my money's worth out of this town, for once!

I just found out that the Warner Theatre in downtown Morgantown (where I saw Trek last Friday) will still have it this coming weekend. I'm a bit surprised, it's been playing there practically all month, so I figured this would be its last week. There weren't that many people in the theater Friday.

Good god i am so jealous! It is completely gone from the island, (as far as i have been able to tell) and we have no cheapie theaters where it might pop up again.
i am positively going through withdrawal! Listening to the soundtrack just isnt enough.

I live in a house. It could play there, but that would be illegal.

So, is it too early for it to start showing up in second run theaters?

I know the one up north of me is going to show it since they have the ST movie stand up display thingie in their lobby.
Ladies and gentleman, Star Trek has left the building! It is no longer at our first run cinema and has not yet appeared at our $2 Cinema.

Looks like TREK might be gone from the last Roanoke-area theater/venue, but I could be wrong. I'll need to double check.

As mentioned elsewhere, my local IMAX is showing Star Trek through August 6... They've extended the feature 3 times already, but they also have "coming soon" posters for Transformers and Harry Potter, so...

Borgminister, this is payback for me -- who merrily went to IMAX while you couldn't.
