Is it safe for me to drink sugar water?

Uhhh. Yes it will.

No it won't, neither water nor salt is toxic.

Sodium and chloride are deadly (soidum is very explosive) yet when combined they're a basic necessity of life. What's your point?

Sufficently salinated water will kill you.

It causes cells in your body to explode from being over salinated and it throws of the electrical and chemical balances in your body.

That's why you're not supposed to drink sea water.

A little salt in water won't hurt you and even has some practical uses.

Drink enough sea water? You'll first go looney and then you'll die.

Sea Water is salt water and can be easily duplicated with enough salt in ordinary tap water.

Hell, water by itself is deadly if you drink too much of it.

Drinking salt water does not kill you. Mucking your sodium balance up... either to high or to low... will kill you. Drinking too much salt water causes the former, drinking too much pure water causes the later (see: water intoxication). Strangely, people don't go around saying that drinking water will kill you.

Pop? Who says "pop" anymore

Time for the pop map again:

And you know how much of that blue part is populated, hehe, i'd say the majority of the population (not land area) says soda or coke

I still think it's absolutely bizarre that anybody refers to it as "Coke" if they're talking about something other than Coke. Pepsi is not a form of Coke.

In my part of Virginia when kids say "do you want a drink" that means soda or pop or whatever. When you grow up "do you want a drink" turns into alcohol. So I guess that fits into the 'other' category.

But we also call it soda or coke.

When I'm working and I ask people if I can start them with a drink, I always get thrown off a little bit when they respond, "No thanks, I'll just have a Coke."

It's funny to me that some people automatically think "drink" = alcohol.

WTF is "Other"? What else are people calling pop (see what I did there)?

In Australia we call them soft drinks. Not sure if this term is used at all in the USA.

It is.

Sure, there's not many people in the Dakotas, but Illinois, Ohio, Indiana, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Washington, and Oregon are pretty significant. ;)
