I have very low expectations for this film. It *could* be great but it probably won't be.

Of course, a good way to make me like it a lot more would be a T'Pol cameo or an NX-01 or President Archer reference. That and not completely changing the looks of the ship and uniforms.

I really doubt that those things won't be changed and that ENT will even get a passing mention so my expectations are quite low.

LOTR? Never heard of it. There was this trilogy a few years back that came out in theaters every winter, but I don't think it did very well

It was kinda like those ill-fated Harry Porter movies, the ones that sometimes came out in the winter and did so poorly when they did that the young actress who played Hermione Ranger vowed to pursue a career in pornography once she reached 18 because of the shame.

My expectations are rising that Abrams not mess this up by having a completely Spock-centric story (sorry, Kirk was the focus for the original series, so I'm hoping this Romulan time-travel thing is just a rumor). Also, so long as the Enterprise and the TOS uniforms are not changed, I'll be happy. Aside from those two things, just so long as it's a good story, it'll do well.

I've seen two because I went with my nieces because I love them. Same reason I saw LOTR. But it doesn't matter what I think (I dislike fanatsy), they made mega-money. Winter is a great time for blockbusters, almost as great as summer. First Contact was a November release and it did fine.

Im excited. Very excited. But then again, this is all very new for me. Ive never even seen an episode of TOS. They could cast Roseanne Barr as Captain Kirk and it wouldnt bother me.

My expectations, and excitement for the film, are really being driven by one single but fundemental element: The core creative decisionmaking is finally stripped away from the actors. I am simply happy that the creative direction of this film is not being driven by the tastes and screenwriting "contributions" of Patrick Stewart and Brent Spiner, and that it is being primarily driven by one core induvidual (Abrahms) who also happens to have established at least some degree of success.

I'm also glad that Berman is gone, and that too has raised my expectations for the film as well.

My expectations have been raised because there is someone directing this project who is hovering somewhere above the b-film level.

I don't think that this movie is going to be genius by any stretch. But in comparison to what we've received from TPTB, it's probably going to wash over fandom and the public like a very welcomed giant wave of fresh air.
