Is Yoda a Baby Sue?

  • Yes

  • No

  • Of course not, there's a perfectly established canon precedent

  • Well, isn't this a turn around?

Well, audiences aren't in uproar over the apparent overpowered Baby Yoda in "The Mandalorian".

Fans haven't clamoured to point out that he is capable of feats far beyond those of his predecessors and the fanbase is completely united over how oocchy coochy coot he is.

Could this be the end of a multi billion dollar franchise already reeling from the seven figure profits it has made after previous controversies? Should Disney have realised by now that there's no future in pandering to small babies who want to see themselves on screen?

It's not Yoda. It's his species but not the same individual. At least based on the time period in which Mandalorian takes place. Unless there's convoluted time travel paradoxes (aka "timey wimey" and other toddler terminology) involved.

But there is a canonical precedent - Yoda herself. Everyone assumes Yoda is a male of mammalian formation, yes? Why is that? Yoda is an alien, be creative all the way. This is sci-fi, ostensibly... Why must Yoda be pandering to stereotype males? Yoda could be a chain smoker and ended up with that cough and voice - pardon using a stereotype to appease those who dictate genders only have one set amount of mannerisms and nothing more complex... sheesh. Nope, people based gender solely on one attribute - oops. Yoda can do everything. Yoda is godlike. That's why Yoda was used in small doses and is a secondary character at most. Is Baby YodaSpeciesIndividual going to blink or wiggle nose and season one ends with every plot problem resolved?

7-figures is only "millions" and how Disney made it to the (4x10-digit)+ figure after six years. The new movies and shows, even with the one-off hiccup, still have a larger net return. It's not going to fail. But anyone who thinks movies are made by nerds, and there is at least one article I read that claims the asinine and way-too-easily debunked assertion... but I digress.

Very much so yes. Back before TLJ came out, that was my idea. That the final battle of the middle chapter would have taken place on the island with Luke and Kylo facing off and Snoke and Rey doing the same. Snoke convinced Rey to come to the dark side and Luke tried to sway Ben back to the light. As Luke wins the moral fight there, he loses the other battle and then loses his life as Rey runs him through. She and Snoke go off together as Ben sits there in his grief as Leia and the Resistance arrest him. The third chapter would have involved Ben Solo facing the loss of his mother (obviously came up with after Carrie's passing) and having an uneasy truce with the Resistance to win the day and bring Rey back to the light.

But no one asked me, so what can you do? :p

Make a fan film?

Possibly you took me more seriously than I intended here? :)

Can't go wrong with blaming bleeding heart liberal SJWs.

He could be a clone of Yoda.

There is an established female from Yoda's species, Yaddle.

Today is officially the last day of grad school! Yay! And the baby is now crawling. (Amazing how quickly that happens.) And then Star Wars and the holidays. Then I've got a job search. Then after I find something I figure I'll be really be busy. :p

And the week after baby goes to grad school?

Baby Yoda follows in the grand Star Wars tradition of softening/infantilizing archtypes we've seen done repeatedly before in the franchise. Wookee to ewoks to porgs, Teen Luke to 8 year old Anakin, R2D2 to BB8, Han Solo to Special Edition Han Solo to Poe Dameron, Boba Fett to Mando, Wise Old Yoda to Younger Yoda to Baby Yoda. The general direction of the franchise has been repeatedly towards younger, cuter, smaller, more cuddly. This of course goes hand in hand with Jedi powers becoming more and more indistinguishable from superhero abilities and Death Star analogues becoming more and more powerful over time.

In my mind Luke touched the Force in that moment, let it take the shot.. put his faith in it. For that brief moment the Force guided him. Didn't mean he was trained.. or could hone it constructively or fight with it

Except... he would have died at the start of the battle - he was a hillybilly put in a military fighter with no training. He would have never got to make the shot...

Baby Yoda is totally a Saby Sue, I mean what the fuck? I was promised a show called the Mandalorian about a badass bounty hunter doing badass bounty hunting things, and instead he's had the spotlight stolen by this preening menace.

Star Wars is about the White Man and always has been. But no, now in this era of progressive wokeness, Kathleen Kennedy and her ilk are pushing a political agenda which serves no purpose other than to keep the White Man down. The movies are girls movies now, the Mandalorian isn't even played by a White Man, though he has the decency to keep his armour on to at least allow us to pretend he could be representing us. But now the Saby Sue Baby Yoda is stealing the spotlight and commandeering all the memes, and for what purpose? Pandering to Yoda-kind and giving yet another minority unnecessary representation. This is a White Man's world, everyone else just lives in it.

But then, what else should we have expected now that control of the Star Wars franchise has been turned over to a fucking secretary?

(Please realize this post is a joke)

I have heard every single one of these points spoken in absolute sincerity by people who somehow made it to adulthood with those viewpoints.

So you are of the opinion that Luke is a liar when he repeatedly states he's a pilot over the course of the film and never flew a T16 before joining the rebellion as he claimed.
