Is anyone else excited about autumn arriving?

I love the autumn, it is far and away my favorite time of the year. From the end of September to Christmas I'm in seasonal heaven. I adore it when there is a slight chill in the air and the wind blows the leaves up off the ground and then they settle back down a few moments later.

I'm not sure why but I just feel really alive during the autumn, as if there's something romantic about it. Anyone else feel the same way?

Yes. Absolutely. 100%. Definitely.

I fecking love autumn. Always have.

Count me in. I love the crisp, fresh air, the faint scent of woodsmoke haze lingering around, and the special quality of late afternoon autumn sunshine. Plus, I love the fresh start of a new school year. It's enough to make me wax poetic, and I don't even like poetry.

I'm really excited that I will soon be able to order hot beverages from Starbucks. I'm getting tired of iced coffee.

Oh, most definitely. It has become my favorite season. You can feel everything changing, you know the holidays are ahead, and you can see all the beauty around you. I love autumn. By the way, sidious, your excellent description was enough to make me feel the cool air on my skin, see the leaves skitter across the ground, the wind rustling the trees, the anticipation of a brisk evening. Oh, I look forward to it!

Woot for the autumn, the chill in the air is what one needs to get the blood pumping :) it also signals the distant arrival of winter and end of summer.

Yes I'm an oddity for preferring winter over summer, maybe it means I'm Andorian :) Or just the fact that I'm a large, hairy, ginger (okay, auburn, but close enough) nerd just means I'm not adapted to the head at all :p

I love autumn, but I dread it arriving. It means that summer is dead and I love summer. I dread that first autumn day, when there's that real autumnal chill in the air. Once I'm into it, and the leaves have changed colour etc, it's great. But, damnit, I don't want summer to go.... :(

I'll finally be able to use all my light coats, jackets, and matching hats again! :-D

After the heat and humidity of the past week, I'm definitely looking forward to Autumn. :rommie:

But I do love it, anyway. The leaves changing color, the cool breezes blowing the leaves around, the early cozy evenings; puts me in the mood for some Beef Stew. :D

And Autumn still makes me feel excited for the new TV Season, even though it doesn't really apply anymore and TV mostly sucks now; it's a Pavlovian response.

Definitely. Autumn is probably my favorite season, for several reasons. The temperature is almost always just right. The scenery up here in Maine is gorgeous. And most importantly, all that damn heat and humidity goes away.

I like autumn a lot, but not in the gay way as described above.

I just prefer the cooler weather (the best weather is when it's cold and sunny) and people generally look better in nice coats as opposed to proudly displaying their flab during summer.

.

Ditto. This last week has been really oppressive in the Boston area.

I've always loved Autumn, even before I moved to New England (20 years ago last week, now that I think of it) where that's sort of what we're known for. Even back when it meant going back to school. :p

The only down side, which I noticed this morning, is that when I take my dogs for their morning walk at 5:00 a.m. ... it's dark. :sigh: I really love it when it's light out that time of morning. But, whadda ya gunna do? I still love autumn.
