Again I never read the Invincible comic series; but in this animated version they really built it up as VERY powerful (and in a previous cameo holding her own - and yes, I know in the comics the character was male) Hero who was dealing fine with multiple versions of Mark's from other Universes, but here really got her ass handed to her by one Viltrumite - and even the one on one VS the Electricity based villain seemed to be having a small struggle taking him down.

I noticed that too. Having the struggle with the Earth villain was not the best choice of introducing the character. In the comics too, the character is the weakest of the group that is put together by the Viltrumites, but the armor regenerates and allowed him to hold his own. (Don't want to say any more on that because it would get into spoiler territory.
Yes exactly. If we assume Viltrumites can store enough oxygen it sill needs to be transported to the brain for it to work ( if we assume basic biology applies to Viltrumites). So if you can cut off the blood supply including the oxygen it should render them unconscious.
The main explanation I see is that Viltrumites need to prepare for periods of 'no breathing' - their blood can hold far more oxygen than ours, and their lungs can hold huge amounts of air under pressure, but when they're unprepared, they're as vulnerable as us.
Conquest let his breath out on the planet expecting to be able to take in fresh lungfuls of air, and Mark caught him at a bad time. You see something similar when Anissa half-crushes Mark's neck on the breach, he almost loses consciousness.
Another possibility I thought up is that Mark was also compressing Conquest's carotid arteries (assuming their biology is the same as ours in that area, which it most likely is). This cuts off oxygen to the brain, and so makes you feel like you can't breathe even if you technically can. Eventually this causes unconsciousness and in extreme cases, death, if the arteries are permanently crushed, or the lack of circulation causes brain damage such as brainstem death.
Mark's hand placement is perhaps indicative of a vascular choke as as both his hands are at the front of the neck on the left/right where the arteries are in humans (and probably are in Viltrumites).
I don't know how to get excited for the war, they gloss over it so much it doesn't even feel like it. A couple of grunts die, the occasional fight that's really not that exciting and a final attack that sends the supposedly uber-viltrumite badass packing with a damaged skull like he's had his tail between his legs. Very underwhelming.
Liked the part with Nolan and Oliver connecting and him getting some training in.
I hope there's more to come and that the leader of the Viltrumites shows why he's the leader and not just giving speeches and threatening his subordinates.

Yes, this "war" is not all that impressive yet. The Earth bound episodes have a lot more to them.

What i find funny is the entire combat in Invincible - half the time they are just throwing people away and then try ramming them again when all Viltrumites have so much power they can punch cleanly through most things including other people.
To the ones who read the comics - where are we storywise when compared to the comics, i.e. how much story is there left and how many seasons could that be?

The Viltrumite War is almost exactly the half way point.
Episode 7... Man oh man.... What a show.
The whole Viltrumite war seems to me to be like an ending point that we've been moving towards over the past few years. Having never read the comics does what come next top this?
Without giving away anything, it changes the status quo of Invincible's world. Think of this arc as the end of Part I.
IDK - Overall I found a lot of the combat stuff underwhelming; (as some have said.all the throwing made no sense to me and Battle Beast seemed rather underwhelming as did the Beasts that were initially shown as much stronger than/deadly to Viltrumites also suddenly seemed weaker.)

I don't know what the comics does and I really don't need to be spoiled anyway... but I think ever since we found out the Viltrumites need a new 'breeding supply'. Did not expect the finale to go that direction
Obviously I thought Mark's abilities despite being so young and able to hold his own (and defeat) Viltrumites who were thousands of years older (and since Viltrumites get stronger and better experienced over time) that's quite a feat... likely showed Thragg there is a suitable breeding stock. I just thought it would likely be the scenario that Thragg threatened in that I thought they would actually be doing mass breeding/control/rule. Not the blending into the population route.
I can't really see Viltrumites with their extreme xenophobia and superiority managing to stay on the downlow very long. Although I guess it makes sense they would decide to try to 'hide' from the Alliance while hoping to have dozens or possibly hundreds of children on Earth to add to their ranks over the next 15-20 years as opposed to openly conquering the planet and setting themselves up as a target.
