Spoilers Invincible (Prime Video)

My observation comes from a panel of the comic where Omni-Man explains their history to Allen.

I would also presume that they enjoy a comfortable lifestyle when not conquering worlds. It is probably a lot nicer to fly someplace in a relaxing starship then fly there on your own.

Yeah - something that's hinted at in the comics is that while Viltrumites can go a couple weeks without breathing, they do have to planet hop to a certain extent to replenish oxygen reserves. My thinking is they probably use some sort of anaerobic process to generate energy when there's no oxygen available for an extended period of time, leading to eventual cellular damage if they don't pause and 'recharge'.

Humans can do this for a short time via anaerobic glycolysis, Viltrumites have this turned by by 1000x given their physiology is 1000x more durable than ours.

Anyway, using a ship would avoid all this.

Nolan was able to reach a black hole with an active accretion disc within weeks of leaving Earth, and the nearest one of those is around 3,000 light years away, implying he can fly through space at 75,000x light speed, which is pretty incredible, but still means it'd take well over a year to cross the Milky Way. If their Empire is as vast as it hinted, that could be too slow to police it effectively.

Their ships may be faster yet.

Great start to the season so far. Love it.

I haven't read the comics but I kinda feel like this season will deal with Viltrumites head on. It has been building to that for a while but I can't imagine it going on another season without some sort of massive confrontation.

I don't want to spoil anything but let's just say you have good instincts!

Though that may be a cliffhanger ending... we'll see.

Well, in the comics, they are right at the start of The Viltrumate War story and the series follows the comics pretty closely.

The first three episodes were well done. They covered six issues of the comics series and hit all the plot points but handled them slightly differently so it was interesting to watch to see how it would play out. I'm looking forward to the rest of the season--it promises to be badass.

Well THAT was a helluva ending!
Yeah, I haven't read the Invincible comics ever; but I figured since Mark and Amber were now sexually active - her being Pregnant would be the cause of her powers going haywire (an a trope from the Fantastic Four way back in the t60s when Sue got pregnant - and as I understand it the Invincible comics loved to do homages to famous Marvel and DC storylines and tropes but in a more 'real world style when possible.)

What got me was that Robot's physical scan didn't seem to pick up the fact she was pregnant; but a standard over the counter pee pregnancy test could?:wtf:)

Only 2 episodes in.

First one was kinda meh, the second one awesome. I actually LOL'ed at the running sex gag with Nolan having to hear Allen and his woman constantly going at it every night and days or weeks later finding out there were enough spare rooms onboard :guffaw: :guffaw:

I don't recall her going to Robot in the comics, actually. It's true that a lot of the stories and characters are inspired by old Marvel and DC comics. You can find a parallel for nearly every character with lots of nods and winks.

Episode 4 was interesting in that it was an original story by Kirkman. Apparently he wanted to include this story and apparently whatever comes afterward in the comic run but never found the space for it. (I looked that up after getting ten minutes in.)

It's receiving a lot of hate online which is a shame as I enjoyed it. Yes it was filler, but you need a little filler. People are just falling over themselves for the Viltrumite War. We just need to be a little patient and let the story and the characters develop!

The Viltrumite War was what much of the story was building to at the time, but it was really only the midpoint of the comics series. Without giving to much away, I found it a little much considering the Conquest and Invincible Invasion stories happened just before it. Regarding this episode, it is setting up a future story so it is not entirely stand alone.

Wait so the Viltrumites didn't want anyone to find out how badly they were hurt by the virus and had billions upon billions die.

So their great plan was to LEAVE THE CORPSES INTACT AND PUT THEM IN ORBIT AROUND THEIR HOME PLANET?

If you go visit Viltrum uninvited you'd probably end up in the corpse belt yourself.
What about a probe? They were decimated by an interstellar device that breeched their atmosphere and dumped a genocidal virus onto their population.

Their defenses and detection technology are not perfect obviously.

Probably felt so powerful and invincible ( pun intended) that they didn't even entertain the thought someone might attack them in a way that doesn't involve raw force.

Spoilers for Ep 5:

One of the most brutal and disgusting scenes I've ever seen animated, loved it lol.

We've seen Conquest and Lucan survive absolutely terrible injuries so I'm sure Mark will survive. I mean they're also not gonna kill the title character in his own show. The question is, how long he will be out of commission during a crucial time in the war.

Also what he's gonna do when he catches up with Cecil...

I liked the episode. I enjoyed how Tech Armor was portrayed in this. Making the character female worked really well here and I liked how well the character integrated with the other characters.
