Introducing James T. Kirk

Cinema Blend spoke to Christina Chong about La’an and Kirk’s time together in S02 here.

No specifics really, as to be expected, but it seems like she and Paul Wesley developed a nice friendship, and between these comments and the on-set photos that folks got out there, it seems like they’re spending a whole lot of screentime together.

(proceeds to make Solo movie which actually loses money)
I liked the Han Solo movie to a point, I just think that They chose the completely wrong actor for the lead role.

He didn't convince me in the slightest that he was going to become the character that Harrison Ford began.
There was at least one other actor who had Ford's mannerisms and look down pat that They should have used instead.

Who?

‪‪I believe @DaveyNY is referring to Anthony Ingruber, who was campaigning hard for the role, and played the younger version of a character that was also played by Ford in the movie The Age of Adeline.

Correct.

At the time this guy was perfect for the role, but the Director's of SOLO didn't even consider him because they had already made up their minds to use a completely inexperienced actor instead.
(who actually had to be given acting lessons while the movie was being made, he was so bad for the role)

Of course, that was only one of their many mistakes on the project, getting fired was probably the other major one for pissing off the Executive Producer.
Even Ron Howard couldn't really save that fiasco.

I love Solo and thought the actor did great. Aldhen did the best he could with what he got and I definitely got those wonderful little moments of "Yup, that's the guy who will be Solo."

Solo was a terrible movie, in my opinion. At least, the bits I stayed awake for were abysmal. It wasn't so much a movie as an overwrought exercise in ticking fanwank boxes. And the actor playing Han was perfect. Perfectly dreadful in every possible way.

Anthony Ingruber's a little more age appropriate for younger Kirk than Wesley. He would have been a good choice I think. Oh well.

Khan: This Kirk fellow is a superior specimen. I like him. I'll be nice and not try to take over his ship and murder him.

Marla McGivers: You mean you don't read the whole sordid history between him and your however many greats granddaughter in the Enterprise computer? Let me tell you, there was subspace chatter about it for years! (Proceeds to tell Khan)

Khan: KKKIIIIIIRRRRRRRKKKKKKKK!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Solo took a very heartwarming story (yes Legends used it but that doesn't automatically make it bad) that Han sacrificed his life and career and was forced into the underworld because he couldn't bear to see slave Chewie mistreated. Then they tossed all that over a cliche romance plotline with the childhood friend. Legends had a Han ex-girlfriend story too that wasn't great either (Bria), but even she didn't overwrite the 'Han freeing Chewie from slavery at the cost of his career' story we longtime fans loved like Qi'ra did (now Han only left the Empire to find Qi'ra, and Chewie just happened to be around and Han saved him only to not get eaten)

Six of one, half-dozen of the other. Both are cliche in their own way.

So they'll be friends for a la'an, la'an time? ;)

The thing that kills me is that Legends had so much good material they could have USED instead of just dumping it overboard in favor of these insipid, limp-dick storylines. The whole thing just chaps my ass a bit.

I'd rather see the romance, thanks.

It didn't go anywhere. I read the Solo novels and watch the film.

So what character is James T Kirk? I thought that he was some kind of gung ho, steadfast, some kind of dare devil persona, and a menace, according a time cop in DS9 episode; plus a womanizer one. But when I watch one of TOS episode, he was so normal, just A normal Starship captain out there. Well, maybe he acted like a cowboy, but overall normal.
