Infinity Gauntlet: What Would You Do With It?

If you had all the power of the Infinity Gauntlet, what would you use it for?

I think I’d create a new world. I’d fill it with people who can worship me. I’d give them scripture full of fantastic stories. When they die, I’d send the believers to Paradise, and the nonbelievers to a lake of fire and brimstone where they’d be tortured for all eternity.

What do you think, would that be a good way to use it?

Using it to cure diseases such as cancer and AIDS and Alzheimer's without causing undesirable collateral damage would be tempting.

Yes, it would be tempting. Anything nice I can think of though--to change the world for the better always seem to have potential negative side effects. It's that "undesirable collateral damage" that I believe is unavoidable.

The one logical choice: create unending natural resources, instead of the idiotic idea that killing half of all beings somehow ends conflict for resources (something that has never worked on any scale in real world history), and gives the survivors some better state in life.

That. or destroy it, as no living being needs to play God, because that too, has never worked well for humankind.

I’d wear the stones out

Venus and Mars habitable…all nukes on the Moon…all toxic waste cleaned up…all extinct animals brought back…all roads housed over with see through glass/solar panels…afterlives for everyone…great thinkers and artists of old brought immediately back to life, replicators in each household with psychic protections to keep them from being weaponized…a cure for all diseases.

All on just my first snap.

Not such a good idea. There's no room or place for say--dinosaurs--in the human-covered / controlled earth of today.

Once you have insta-terraformed Mars and Venus, you can just put them there :-p

Granted it would still not be enough for *all* of them, just for a tiny fraction, but at least it'd be something.

Why put the nukes on the moon instead of just making them disappear?

That's the interesting thing about playing this sort of mind game--nearly every "good deed" comes with its own set of unforeseen consequences. Even making people empathetic, understanding, or more rational in their behaviour would drastically change and alter who we are as humans. Creating unlimited resources only teaches us that we can continue to exploit the world. Ridding the world of disease creates an unsustainable population explosion. And so on.

This discussion can easily turn political. I almost did it.
