Yay! I can't wait to see what they produce.

I loved the 1950s setting. The atmosphere was perfect for a story about aliens.I liked the ancient alien angle and the flying saucer.
Well, Spielberg didn't exactly hide the fact that he thought Lucas' aliens were a dumb idea, but agreeing to them was the only way that movie would get made. So maybe he figures "that one for George, this next one for me"? He's hardly run out of movies to make generally, so maybe the fact that he's even bothering to come back means he feels particularly inspired to do so, and will actually work at making it good.I'm frankly surprised Spielberg would even want to do it without Lucas, given how instrumental he was in the creation of the character and how loyal Spielberg's been to him in the past (even when he disagreed on some of the storytelling choices).
So, there we have it: Spielberg is definitely either doing this because he feels passionately and personally invested in making a fifth Indy movie soon, or not. One of those two options, for sure.![]()
I will grant you that the first half of the movie was pretty decent, and it was certainly fun to see Ford playing the character again.... but the second half with the cartoonish CG action and goofy Marian and nonsensical ancient alien stuff was just so unforgivably bad that I can't see myself ever growing to like it.
Spielberg can still make a solid movie. Bridge of Spies was very good.
I like cheesy '50s B-movies with flying saucers and aliens. So I saw absolutely nothing wrong with integrating that into the Indiana Jones mythos with a movie set in that decade.
The only thing I wasn't particularly fond of (besides too much CGI) was that the archaeology was worse than in the previous movies. The idea of "ancient" crystal skulls was debunked years ago.

He directed all four, yeah.Wasn't Temple of Doom Speilberg's?
Why? At what age does Indiana Jones die?Ford is waaay too old to be Indiana Jones.
