Indiana and Marion Jones Go to See "Star Wars", a Movie Starring Burt ReynoldsI wonder what year the story will be set in. Indy was born in 1899, so he'd be 78 in 1977, which is not really a good year for a Pulp adventure.

Why didn't they keep Chris Pratt (as rumored at first) to play a younger Indy, and make a story where an adventure of his past were to connect to his older self (played, of course, by Ford)?
I swear I must be the only person who thoroughly enjoyed The Kingdom of the Crystal Skulls and had no problem with Ford's age. I agree Mutt was annoying but it wasn't a deal breaker for me.
We have no idea what Disney's post-Ford plans for the character are; they may well not even have any firm ones as yet. Pratt will be 40 when Indy 5 comes out; maybe they'll want to do a 20-something Indy story for their first outing with a new actor. I would.Do we have any reason to believe they won't do this?
I like it too. I don't know if it's quite at the level of the first three, but it's still a fun adventure movie.I swear I must be the only person who thoroughly enjoyed The Kingdom of the Crystal Skulls and had no problem with Ford's age. Indy had a daughter in one of the Young Indiana Jones framing sequences.Which is why I said bring in a daughter instead. That way we could get Indy and his kid, but we don't have to get complaints about why they didn't bring Mutt back, or having to recast the character.
This could work with a little finesse.Which is why I said bring in a daughter instead. That way we could get Indy and his kid, but we don't have to get complaints about why they didn't bring Mutt back, or having to recast the character.
Temple of Doom was so PG it helped bring us PG-13. You can't really get more "too PG" than that!Crystal Skull was too PG
Maybe the movie is just old Indy and Marion, and middle-aged Mutt with his family, going to the movies to see a curious new sci-fi movie called Star Wars on opening night. Disney stealth releases the original cut without anyone realizing it!I wonder what year the story will be set in. Indy was born in 1899, so he'd be 78 in 1977, which is not really a good year for a Pulp adventure. The early 60s are probably the last years that an Indy adventure would work, but that's really pushing it.
Crystal Skull was too PG, and it plodded in the 3rd act. I think the opening was strong.
Aliens and Watergate-- that might work.If the first three are 1930s serials, the fourth is a 1950s sci-fi B-movie, then maybe a fifth set in the 1970s would be a political thriller like Seven Days in May? That's not what I'd want from an Indiana Jones movie, but you never know.![]()
No, that's pretty much how I feel.I swear I must be the only person who thoroughly enjoyed The Kingdom of the Crystal Skulls and had no problem with Ford's age. I agree Mutt was annoying but it wasn't a deal breaker for me.
Mutt became an actor and plays Han Solo. Indy V is therefore a 70s Horror movie.Maybe the movie is just old Indy and Marion, and middle-aged Mutt with his family, going to the movies to see a curious new sci-fi movie called Star Wars on opening night.
