Indiana Jones 5. It's official.

I am strongly in favor or recasting the role at this point.

I would prefer a CGI or animated show with voice overs. They could complete the lost Young Indy episodes that way, fill in any nazi era stuff they want, AND explore the 50s if they wanted.

Only if he does it by finding the HG Wells time machine in "the warehouse." :mallory:

^^ I was a kid in the 70s. There was a lot of interest in Ancient Aliens (Chariots of the Gods? was still very recent), so it would be a good era to make the movie that Crystal Skulls could have been-- not that I didn't like Crystal Skulls, but I would have much preferred Area 51 space aliens to whatever those guys were that we got.

^^ Will Pete Lattimer and Myka Bering be there also? If so, I'm in!
Oh, yeah, and Artie and Claudia. That would be sweet.

To be fair, the crystal skulls do come up a lot in real life as connected to ancient aliens theories.

The wounded Han Solo falls off the platform on Starkiller station and disappears into the mists, and is magically transported into Indy 5, where his wounds are treated and healed. Then he and Indy team up to fight... Nazi Storm Troopers?

This! I loved him as Indy but he cannot believably play an action hero running through the jungle or a temple anymore, he's in his mid 70s! Another problem is that the new Ford Indy would probably be set in the 60s or 70s at this point and as a franchise Indiana Jones loses a lot of its charm for me the closer it gets to modern times.

Recast, set it in the 30s and make a great adventure that doesn't feature the cold war and the space race or whatever they'd come up with.

So, Indiana Jones has to be forever set in the 1930s? I had no problem with the Cold War theme in "Crystal Skulls". It was more original than Indy dealing with the Nazis . . . again, in "Last Crusade".

Perhaps Lucasfilm could consider not using Nazis, neo-Nazis or Soviet officials/troops in this new movie. And set it in the 1960s or 70s.

I don't think we'll get "action" Indy, most likely(projecting here) they will recast Mutt and Henry Jones III will be real dominant action hero of the movie. Harrison's Indy will be more akin to Henry Sr(Connery) form Last Crusade.

I think that would be a cool idea for a novel or comic series, but unfortunately both seem to be on hold at the moment-there was a novel released around the time of Crystal Skull which had him with Mac on another adventure in the 40's, but I don't think it was a huge success-same with the comics (although maybe Marvel could do something in the future).

It's kind of one of the more interesting aspects of Crystal Skull, that Indy took a more active role in the war, especially considering the TV show had him be a World War I vet.
