In each series, what character do you identify with most?

Related to my previous thread about who you'd hang out with, now I'm asking: for each series, which character can you relate most to/identify most with? This is probably more personal than who you'd like to hang out with, but if you want to share, please do. The single rule is: one character for each series. No "these two" or "none", exactly one for each series. And in the end, you have to pick THE one regardless of series.

I find these thought experiments interesting because actually thinking about the characters (and yourself) makes you think and learn about things you may not have considered before.

I'll start then:

TOS: Spock. He's super rational and finds himself baffled at the emotionality of his human peers--at the same time, it is revealed to be at least to some extent a coping mechanism for dealing with his own emotions which he finds too overwhelming to allow. I can relate to that a lot.

TNG: I can't fully relate to anyone here, which is interesting given that this is one of my favourite series. If I have to pick one, I'm torn between Picard and Data but I'll go with Data. I can relate to his rationality and trouble understanding humans to some extent, however not as much as I can relate to Spock.

DS9: again interesting because it is my favourite series but I can't really identify with anyone. Closest is probably Kira. She gets so much shit, she's rightfully angry, I can relate to that even though otherwise she's very different to myself.

VOY: Tuvok. Again, the rational guy with troubling emotional issues beneath the surface. There's some chemistry between him and Neelix, and how he seems to be in actual physical pain when exposed to Neelix, yep that's me. That's Vulcan no.2 when it comes to who I can relate to.

ENT: T'Pol. Oh my God, so much. I'm not a fan of ENT but I can relate to T'Pol so much. Again, the rational Vulcan--but this time, she's disrespected by the rest of the crew for being that. Kirk valued Spock for what he was, Janeway valued Tuvok for what he was. Archer and Trip on the other hand try to assimilate T'Pol, make her more human. T'Pol doesn't appreciate it and Archer/Trip seem to be unable to take a hint.

She may also be the most introverted Trek character, which I can relate to a lot. She does all she can to do her job, and unlike in previous series, she's faced with a highly irrational captain, given all the heft of being the single adult in the room. But in her private time, she just wants to be left alone, which is again often not respected. I can relate to that so much.

But my appreciation for T'Pol as a character further sours my appreciation for ENT because I find it appalling how much she's sexualised in desperate attempts to attract an audience.

DIS: having the most trouble here. I just can't relate to anyone on this show. I'll pick Culber because to me he seems like the most reasonable/relatable person. But really, there is no character here that I can really say I relate to.

PIC: Raffi. The character may not be fully realised, but I feel her. She's broken and submitted to alcohol, and I know that place. I understand.

Lower Decks: no one really. But I've set up the rules, one for each series. I'll go with Beckett Mariner actually. I don't have a great lot in common with her, but the attitude and the sarcasm... can't say I object to it.

Final overall pick: T'Pol. The ultimate introvert.

TOS: Spock
TNG: Worf, maybe. It's thin, but few characters engage me on this show.
DS9: Sisko and Bashir tie.
VOY: Tuvok and Paris
ENT: Reed
DSC: Saru at first, then Michael.
PIC: Picard.
LD: Mariner.

TOS: Checkov, Spock
TAS: Spock
TNG: Data, Barclay, Guinan
DS9: Jake, Odo
VOY: Tom
ENT: Reed
DIS: Saru, Tilly
PIC: Kestra
SHORT TREKS: Captain Lynne Lucero
LD: all 4

TOS: Spock. Humans can be so confusing sometimes.
TNG: Barclay. Anxious, unpopular, no people skills to speak of. That's me.
DS9: Odo. An eternal outsider who believes in justice.
VOY: B'Elanna. My temper can get away with me sometimes.
ENT: Hoshi. Sometimes I feel like I don't really belong here.
PIC: Raffi. Looking back on my life, I think I've made something of a mess of it.
DSC: Tilly, all the way, for multiple reasons.
LD: Boimler. Neurotic, prone to saying the wrong thing, and generally a geek.

TOS: Uhura, no question. I'm a language nerd, even if I don't actually speak all that many, and I haven't attempted to learn a non-European language yet.
TNG: Guinan. I can't claim to have a lot in common with her, and she isn't my favorite character by a long shot (that's Riker), but she's definitely the most mysterious woman on board.
DS9: This one's hard, because most of the characters have a trauma or two in their background. I can admire them for overcoming it, but I can't relate to them. Probably Kassidy, she seems the most stable one of the lot.
VGR: The Doctor, for his sarcasm. I can be quite sarcastic when given the opportunity, although I tone it down a lot online because it's so easily misunderstood.
ENT: Hoshi, for the languages.

I haven't seen the newer series or TAS, so I can't comment.

Friendly with friends, harsh with enemies, can be be diplomatic but am also prepared to take no prisoners. Tougher exterior than before and was never willing to put up with people's nonsense. Will cut right through if I see smoke and mirrors. Can be nice but also have a volcanic temper if you strike the wrong nerve.

Basically, it all comes down to how much I like you. If I don't like someone, they won't need to ask. Who would be similar to that?

TOS --> Kirk
TNG --> Riker
DS9 --> Kira
VOY --> Torres
ENT --> Archer
DSC --> Georgiou
PIC --> Seven

TOS: Chief Pitcairn from "The Cage"
TNG: O'Brien
DS9: O'Brien

ENT: Admiral Forrest

There is only one character in all of fiction that I ever identified with wholly…but it wasn’t Trek…it was from AMADEUS:

Salieri.

I can see and appreciate brilliance, but not ever measure up

I know the feeling.

However, Amadeus actually takes some liberties with history. Evidence actually suggests that Mozart and Salieri were more colleagues than adversaries.

TOS: Scotty (sans drinkypoo habit), Spock, or McCoy
TNG: Data, Ro, or Barclay.
DS9: O'Brien or Bashir
VGR: Seven, Janeway (especially with coffeepoo habit), Tuvok, or Neelix
LD: Boimler or Mariner

I'll also try this on the dating site and see what happens... :guffaw:

TOS - I'd like to think I'm cool, but I'm really just Ensign Riley
TNG - Tasha Yar m̶i̶n̶u̶s̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶d̶r̶u̶g̶ ̶p̶a̶s̶t̶? Ro Laren minus any actual skills?
DS9 - Major Kira. We're angry, but we are trying every day.

Ro seemed to be a good tactician, if not quick to choose the most dire situation. A polar opposite of Troi. "Disaster" was not my favorite story, but it's amazing how open they kept it - complete with Troi recognizing Ro could have been right. She'd also be quick to give up in "The Next Phase". Geordi, not so new to the field, provided her with some insight to think of other options.
