I'm watching "The Six Million Dollar Man"

That was the sort of effect that worked better from the front than the side, but on a TV shooting schedule they couldn't always be careful about the camera angles.

Oh definitely..... But front on and if you didn't know how it was done it was really creepy. As a kid I cringed when those scenes happened because I was just freaked out.
 
In watching reruns on COZI TV, one thing I've come to notice and kind of admire is how fluid Lee Majors is when running.
I know part of it has to do with the slow motion filming, but you don't see his arms flailing about like some actors when they run.
Even in some of the early episodes when they hadn't quite figured out if they were going to overcrank or undercrank the film when Steve is running, his body movements don't look silly.

I guess that comes from his track and football experience in his school days. Probably a factor in why they cast him. It sure wasn't for his acting.
