I'm not crying, your crying.

The same can be said of the majority of STD. But hell we got one 'sceen accurate' flashback in S2 "If Memory Serves".
The rest of it:

STD 1701 Uniforns: Understand I like what they did, but do they look olike or evoke 'nostalgia'? No. Why? They don't LOOK like the 1701 uniforms in TOS.

The Disco-Prise: Again, I like teh design, but does it evoke nostalgia for me? No. Why? It really looks quite different in a major way the the TOS 1701 I know and still like to this day.

In fact if you feel everything I brought up is an 'Easter Egg' - please tell me what STD did that was sooo nostalgic for TOS fans like myself who managed to catch a season or more of that series on NBC.

Bottom line: Quit parroting the idiot reviewers on YT who don't really know TOS or really paid attention to watching whatever episode snippets they caught in syndication or from DVDs over the years.

I'll make it clear for the second time for your sake. I did not say Discovery was being nostalgic. You can read post #77 to see what I did say.

.Is the main character also an Easter egg?

Let's be absolutely clear on something here:

The main character is frigging Jean-Luc Picard.

Let me help you out. Post #22 of mine starts out with "Apart from using some Bermen era cast..."

Oh please to say Star Trek piccard isn't p"on nostalgia" in the same fashion is intellectually disingenuous. You really want to argue semantics?

I'd already given a clear explanation of exactly what I meant long before you posted.

Appreciate the post, but I didn't call it nostalgic. I said it played on nostalgia. What I meant by that is that Discovery was revisiting known established events in Trek history and filling in gaps/adding more lore to those events.

You want to argue other something I didn't mean in the way you've taken it? Oh right, you already are. Please continue..

None of the modern Trek actors (especially from Discovery) can compete with the acting performance of Sir Patrick Stewart. That's why Picard is outstanding and I can forgive the fact that the show consists mostly of computerized motion picture technology.

I enjoyed Discovery and was just happy for new Trek, but the last 2 episodes of Picard make Discovery look like trash.

I'll still check out season 3. Considering the behind the scenes drama of the first 2 seasons I'm hopeful it will find is feet now.

I assume the show-runners will connect the events featured in 'Picard' with the implied
decline/downfall of the Federation
hinted in 'Disco' season 3, so the two series would be linked in some way.

But these days I just assume 'Disco' takes place within JJ/Kelvin timeline and this makes the series more watchable ;).

Hahhahaha! You're serious?
Hell Will Wheaton is sooo geeking out over all of the nostalgia bits, he looks like he's about to stroke out in glee in the aftershow segments.

The show-runners need to sign up Wheaton to play an adult Wesley in 'Picard' so that he could yell "shut up, Wesley!" to him one more time :D:hugegrin::hugegrin:

If only we had some sort of way to describe such a philosophy. Something simple, with a medallion to go along with it...

I believe it might be called e-dick or something

Picard is still a tower of virtue. Picard is still clashing with Admiral Nasty McGrumpyboots types. He's still going maverick because the Federation isn't Federation enough. We're looking at resurrecting a Spocklike figure again. We're still speaking of Data's daughter. We're still at the stage where synths haven't got their rights and we'll be seeing Picard fight for that. There's a strong TNG anchorage sofar.

Amen to all of these.. My faith in 'Star Trek' has been restored after watching the first two 'Picard' episodes ;):techman:
