I'm guessing Lindelof is out for future sequels

I've checked with my inside go-to movie source, and he told me this:
"My cat's breath smells like cat food."
So I'm not at all concerned. There will be another film, and the budget will be at least the same size as STiD, and whether Lindelof returns or not (I figure he will), it will be a well made, capably handled movie.

There's no question there will be more Star Trek movies.

Will Abrams and/or Lindelof be attached?

I doubt it.

Lindelof has already been kicked off the Alien franchise reboot, despite Prometheus making over $400 million worldwide.

If anyone leaves from the production/creative staff it will not because they have been sacked.

I agree that Paramount has bent over backwards to accomodate JJ Abrams and he has repaid them with a 4-year gap and then he pissed off to Star Wars...

I would be annoyed!

Surely they can green light a sequel with a lower budget if this movie makes it to $450m WW. They don't have a lot of franchises, just Star Trek, Transformers, Mission Impossible and they are trying to restart the Jack Ryan movies - thats it. They lost the Avengers movies to Disney and I don't think they are working with Dreamworks Animation any more.

As for the writers, I personally did not like the script for Into Darkness and I would love for someone else to come in, like JMS or Ron Moore..

He hasn't pissed off to Star Wars, Bad Robot are still in charge of Trek and it's possible he could direct 3.

He won't direct the next Trek. He'll still produce it, though.

You don't know that. You're stating it as if it were a fact. Nothing has been settled yet.

He may or may not direct the next Star Trek installment. I hope he does. However, I wouldn't mind some new writers. :)

A lower budget would suit me just fine.

The best Trek movies were made with budget constraints.

Nick Meyer had to beg and plead to get money for STII and STVI.

Less money on special effects = more attention to a good story and script.

I'm stating it because it's a 99% likelihood. I'd have preferred him to stay with Trek as director for the next one, but that's not going to happen. Paramount would have to allow a gap of four or five years for the next Trek film for Abrams to direct it - and that's if he wanted to come back to direct Trek rather than sticking with Star Wars - and that's not going to happen.

I'll point to The Final Frontier and Insurrection.

No matter how much money you spend, you have to have the right people involved and you have to have the right marketing and you have to hope that you don't get sandwiched between three blockbusters.

Sometimes you catch lightening in a bottle, sometimes you don't.

I'm surprised this topic hasn't been closed. You're just trolling and trying to scare people,.

Really? I'm just passing along some info.

There's nothing scary about Lindelof being kicked off the franchise, either.

Obviously, you are not a fan of either Abrams or Lindelof, given your bashing of them in your posts and your less-than-funny-user-name. The movie is doing just fine at the box office, and this 'insider' talk is just gossip if you can't name the source. If I want to read gossip, I will log onto TMZ.
