It doesn't involve people getting naked, I swear
(not Curse.) (I'll write something, and that'll be the story, and who ever's buying stuff like that, I'd edit it to their format. As you do.Didn't get the memo? Fairy tales are the in thing this year. Throw in Miss Muffet and you got a deal.I think I'll call it ...And the Kitchen Sink.

The pirate show thread reminded me of a topic I'd like to see: more historical dramas with sf/f elements.

I'd like to see more historical dramas about periods and locations you're less likely to see historical dramas about. Maybe a series about Emperor Justinian, or Graeco-Roman Bactria, or Axum.

Yes I second this. For a TV series though to be set on Earth and that far in the future would be very expensive to produce. Great idea Temis.2. A show set about 100 years in the future on Earth, in which genetic engineering and cybernetics are causing the human race to split into de-factor different species. (Heroes, but with more of a science foundation, and not superhero-based.)
This one: Beyond (2006)
Beyond - Realistic, near-future series about a manned mission to Mars.
I wish this show would have gone to pilot and series from last year's development: "Mars Direct" NBC series in development about a mission to MarsA global crises forces scientists at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory to begin a new space race.
Oh, I dunno. 100 years from now, we'll have a lot of the same buildings. The place where I live is 100 years old, and that's not even that old, even by American standards. Throw in a few advanced-looking structures every now and then, and come up with futuristic but believable hair and clothing styles. For a TV series though to be set on Earth and that far in the future would be very expensive to produce.
After watching Ben Elton's Stark, and completely disagreeing with the ending, I had an idea. And this was back before global warming was much talked about.
The elite (well off/ politically connected/military industrial/uberscientists/etc) get away from an Earth where the climate is out of contriol. As a parting gift they seed the atmosphere with an airborne version of blue-green algae, which will reduce the carbon content, but over time kill most of the population off, again easing pollution concerns (I've put a lot of thought behind it, you're just getting the shorthand).
Determined they are not going to die. a group of determined people put together an anti-gravity device that can lift many, many things into orbit quickly (yes, there are engines to get them up to orbital velocity, have faith!) So 98% of the human race is moved into huge orbital facilities (which are built in orbit - shorthanding it!). The anti gravit device is inverted to provide artificial gravity, and radiation shields make it as safe as living on Earth. the 2% below maintain space elevators ferrying essential supplies (no space station can be fully self-sustaining). And so the human race sits out the algae plague (which will last a hundred years),a dn finds a whole new way to live, in orbit.
So, basically, it's your granny and uncle and you in orbit. How different will life be?
There is of course a lot more to it than that, but Stark (as well as Alternative 3) was the starting point.
I have another half dozen ideas, but... no, I'll play them close to my chest for now.![]()
