If You Could Remake One Game...

What would it be and why?

Personally there are tons of games I would love to re-make but for now lets try and keep it down to 1 gem. I would choose Freelancer because with more support the online aspect of it in particular could of been amazing. Imagine a free MMO type game like you get with Guild Wars with dozens and dozens of systems with empty space inbetween. Anomalies, pirates, aliens, fleet of human ships and a living breathing economy. Unlike EVE it would not be click based either and also I would add far more ships, station missions at the least too so not all in space.

Freelancer was a great game but a more wider online experience, Next gen graphics and far more variety would make far more better than the original. Also I would love to have voice interface built into the game to command your ship, that would be so cool :techman:

What game you would you re-make ?

I would like them to do a remake of the original ActRaiser. Playing God + beating the shit out of people has never been more fun!

ComixZone was great too, totally overlooked at the end of the 16-bit era. A modern version with beautifully rendered panels and updated sound and game play would rock hard. Imagine this on a modern system, with graphics that look like a current mainstream comic title from DC or Marvel:

Final Fantsy VII.

Because it's the best JRPG I've ever played, it's the best Final Fantasy game I've ever played, and after seeing what they could do with the PS3 tech demo and the Advent Children film, I'd love seeing the game remade with current gen graphics.

Command and Conquer 4.

That was an okay RTS but it was a terrible and woeful finale to the Tiberium universe (or at least to Kane's story). I would first of all take it back and make it a traditional RTS because it should be a celebration of everything that line of C&C has been about. I'd not go cartoony graphics like Red Alert.

Next I would put some serious effort into the story and use a campaign format like in C&C3 where the campaigns are tied together so that there is an order they should be played in. I'd have the Scrin involved instead of just ignoring them and to go with the story I'd big in the big names for the full motion cutscenes like they did with 3...I mean the cast for 4 was so underwhelming after what was used in 3.

Basically I'd make a bigger and better C&C3. Oh, and I'd ditch the DRM they used...it is fucked that I have to be online even if I want to just play the campaign or a skirmish against the AI.

I'd rather they remade FF1 with like a plot and side quests and stuff, seven was overrated imo. But if I had to pikc one, uuuuuuummmmmmmm, off the top of my head I'd say future cop L.A.P.D.

They did remake FF1 (and 2), years ago for both the Nintendo Advance and Playstation. New dungeons and extended story-lines and everything. They did FFIII (American) for the Nintendo DS as well.

Look up FF: Dawn of Souls (FF1 and 2 for GBA) and Origins (for PS1).

Crimson Skies as an MMO.

Other candidates ... Starfox 64, Extreme-G III, Age of Empires, System Shock 2, Ocarina of Time.

if there could be only one? Illusion of Gaia, originally for the SNES it was a dungeon crawling hack n slash JRPG

Crimson Skies

Never played this but always heard good things.

It's a great universe and well suited to MMO adaptation. Alternate early-20th century America where zeppelins rule the sky and corporations (amongst other warring factions) rule the ground. Contracts, squadrons, bases, piracy, upgrades/aircraft/economy, PVP, it's all right there. All that's needed is $50 million or so. ;)

The Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time

I know this game is highly revered, but as someone who wasn't very fond of the N64 control scheme and graphics, but absolutely LOVED Wind Waker and Twilight Princess, I'd love to try this game with an updated control scheme.

As it is, I find the controls very awkward.

I'd like to see the original Starflight games (1 and 2) remade. Those were my favorite "open universe" games as a kid, and they are still pretty good--they're just horribly dated, technology-wise.

Yeah, I can't disagree with these. I only played the Genesis version of the original, but I still have the horrible "Orbit Established" voice stuck in my head and I can recall it at a moment's notice.

There was a pretty genuinely creepy, well-thought-out story in there, too. Fuck the Uhlek.

The Spemin were right bastards, too. Squishy thugs.

Elder Scrolls: Arena and Elder Scrolls 2: Daggerfall. They were good games, but the towns were pretty boring and some quests were just plumb impossible to solve, either because I picked the wrong stats and don't know how to fix them, or because the person/place/thing that was supposed to end the quest simply wasn't where they said it was.
