If You Could Remake One Game...

Eh, realistically I'd probably choose an older game that could really benefit from a modern makeover, but I'd love to see Knights of the Old Republic redone with modern graphics, and with a fully voiced Revan, like Commander Shepard. I'm just imagining the revelation scene with a Revan who has an actual voice and personality...

^
While they're at it, they can flip Revan and The Exile's genders. Having Revan be a chick and Exile a dude simply makes more sense (and just works better) both thematically and iplot element wise.

It was a huge mistake to make the canon genders they were in the first place, and they only did it to appease the fan-boys.

I don't get the point of remaking a classic game just to put it on a new console and enhance the graphics. I mean, I understand from a marketing perspective, but it just seems like such a waste of time. The remakes I love are for games ahead of their time but held back by hardware limitations of the past.

I would love to see a remake of Body Harvest for the N64. A very unpopular (and critically panned) game for the N64 by the developers of the GTA series. Body Harvest had more issues and bugs than almost any game I've ever played, but even that couldn't mar its greatness. Now take that diamond in the rough, polish it to perfection, and release it for say the PS3 or PC. The game would finally get the attention and praise it deserves.

Also, a remake of NINJA GOLF would be awesome.

ComixZone was great too, totally overlooked at the end of the 16-bit era. A modern version with beautifully rendered panels and updated sound and game play would rock hard. Imagine this on a modern system, with graphics that look like a current mainstream comic title from DC or Marvel:

Hm, I thought about what a 3d version of this might look like. I guess it would have to be about you making the comic as you play, by taking screenshots mid action (more of a, freeze action, rotate/move camera around scene for best frame), and later cropping, composing the page, etc. You'd be filling in the space between Max Payne - type cutscenes. Although, maybe the game should do that for you as you go long. Anyway, it would also be awesome to allow the player to completely customize the world he plays in. Will it be black and white with splotches of color, a la Sin City? Will the character models have a realistic or a manga style? And so on..

Myself, I would love to see a remake of the original Red Faction. That game was so perfect at the time.

eta: yeah, it'd definitely be too much work for the player to bother with screenshots mid action. Maybe he'd just have motivation for using diverse moves and items, if the game rewarded that by filling more pages.

A quirky old Doom clone that deserves a Doom 3 style makeover.

Caleb is one of the greatest FPS anti-heroes ever, and had some of the best one-liners in the genre. How can you not love an undead Old-West gunfighter who balks when told to 'Use' a sink, complaining: "I like my hands bloody!" Or who starts to sing show tunes when left idle too long?

Starfox 64, Ocarina of Time.

The Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time

I know this game is highly revered, but as someone who wasn't very fond of the N64 control scheme and graphics, but absolutely LOVED Wind Waker and Twilight Princess, I'd love to try this game with an updated control scheme.

As it is, I find the controls very awkward.

You guys are in luck, both Star Fox 64 and Ocarina of Time are getting remakes on the 3DS.

Adding the 3D effect doesn't qualify as a remake. They're ports. :p

That said I probably will be picking up a 3DS with both of those titles at some point.

 I loved Blood. The sequel wasn't quite as good but I still enjoyed it.

"I hate mimes."
"Get off my train!"
"Mmm... tastes like Kool-Aid."

At the very least both will be getting a graphical upgrade and I know they were talking about changing the water temple in OoT a little bit.
Maybe not a full on remake, but as close as we'll likely ever get.

And no memory leaks! ;)

I'm sure my choice won't come as a surprise, but I'd like to see Crystalis given a 3d treatment and current graphics. Though the storyline would come in rather short and linear compared to more current RPG/adventure games.

In an article on Kotaku some time back, Shigeru Miyamoto expressed his beliefs in regard to Ocarina of Time in particular, citing that he feels a simple port would never do it justice and that the designers are looking into adding all kinds of new things. If enough is added, I would call at least that game a genuine remake on key areas, though it would still be classified as a port.

Star Trek - Birth of the Federation with current generation graphics and online multiplayer.

Recently, I downloaded a couple of the community's most intriguing and recommended patches: a version which balances the game significantly and adds additional ships and the like, and a version which replaces the Ferengi Alliance with the Dominion and apparently adds a ton of new stuff.

I've dabbled in the former so far, and it's fun, but it seems the memory leakage is still a problem. Not as much, though, or so it appears. I got to Turn 250 or so before the game crashed, booted it back up and was fine again for another 50 or so turns. Minimal slowdown, too. I was quite impressed, since I seem to recall the original version giving me aches and pains by Turn 80, which is flat-out terrible considering my files would rarely amount to much until then.

Mario 3 I always thought deserved a 2.5D sequel, so a remake would work too.

Star Tropics gets my votes, awesome series.

LHX Attack Copter with modern graphics and sound.

preferably the PC version with the V-22 Osprey and Black Hawk which the Mega Drive version lacked - only having Apache and LHX...
